Kansas City Junior Classic
(August 6 - 7, 2016)
On Thursday August 4, 2016, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Spring Hill, KS to host the Kansas City Junior Classic at Sycamore Ridge GC. Both days were sunny with a little cloud cover, while temperatures were in the mid 80s. The HJGT would like to thank the Sycamore Ridge GC staff for allowing us to host our KC Junior Classic out at a great venue. The boys 14-18 top performers received Junior Golf Scoreboard ranking points. The top three winners in each age division were awarded an exemption into the 2016 National Championship in Champions Gate, FL on December 3-4th, and the top ten finishers also received points towards year-end honors. Each player was fill with excitement and couldn’t wait to show their competitors what they had in stored.
Boys 16-18 Division
Round one started out as a close race between Alex Zillig, of LaVista, NE, Tom Flickinger, of St. Louis, MO, and Chris Rasmussen, of Elkhorn, NE. Zillig was leading by 4 strokes after round 1 and Flickinger was not far behind at the end of the second round. Zillig came in with a second round of 78 to give him a two day total of 156 to take first place. Flickinger came in the second day shooting a second round 82 which landed him in second place. Coming in third place was Cannon Miller, of Lenexa, KS with a two day total of 166. Congratulations to these guys and we wish them luck for the rest of the summer.
Boys 11-13 Division
Some of the best rounds during the KC Junior Classic happened in the boys 11-13 division. The winner, Luke Tedford, of Lake Forrest, IL struggled a little with an 84 in the first round and bested that score in the second round with an 76 for a total of 160. Coming just three strokes shy of Tedford, Will Hedges, of Lawrence, KS. He also struggled on Saturday shooting 87 and improved on that score in the second round shooting a 76 for a total of 163 for the tournament. Both Tedford and Hedges had great rounds this weekend at the KC Junior Classic and we look forward to seeing them play again with us soon.
Girls 14-18 Division
With only two players in the girls 14-18 division, Faith Hedges, of Lawrence, KS and McKenna Stumph, of Boonville, MO both had a good weekemd. Hedges had a tough first round finishing at 93. She followed up that tough first round with a better socre of 90 in the final round to finish at a total of 183 for the tournament. Stumph also struggled in the first round with a score of 96, but came back in the second round with a 94 to bring her two-day total to 190. Congratualations to both of these ladies and we wish them the best of luck throught the rest of the summer.
With only two boys in the boys U10 age division, both boys had a great tournament. Sage Bradshaw, of Chesterfield, MO shot 95-107 for a two day total of 202 to take first place and Tony Song, of Windsor Heights, IA shot 106-117 for a two day total of 223 to take second place. Congratulations to each of these boys and we wish them luck on the rest of the summer.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
