Swinging to the Top

  On July 27-28, 2016 the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour took on the Red Tiger Course at Trump National. The weather during the tournament was perfect – sunny with just enough of a breeze. The HJGT would like to thank the Trump National for opening their doors to us this weekend. There was quite a bit at stake at this tournament. For starters, Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings, the winners in each division will receive an exemption into the 2016 Tour Championship, December 3-4, 2016 and the top 10 finishers receive points towards year-end honors that include state teams, all HJGT teams and the Hurricane Cup. Once that first tee shot sored through the air, the golfers were ready to put their clubs to the ball and make their mark on the course.  

Boys 16-18 Division

The champion for the boys 16-18 division was Agustin Segundo Oliva Pinto of Argentina. Agustin was leading the pack at the end of the first day with 7 birdies for a round of 72. Concluding the end of the second round, Agustin was still in the lead. He had 4 birdies for a round of 69, thus securing his first place finish with a two-day total of 141. Agustin was also the leader in the number of birdies he was able to get with a total of 11 for the tournament. Taking home the 2nd place trophy was Yaseen Le Falher of France, with a two-day total of 149. 3rd place went to Parker Deakyne of Noblesville, IN with a two-day total of 151.    

Boys 14-15 Division

Ryan Dever of Davie, FL was the champion of the boys 14-15 division. Ryan had a pretty significant lead finishing the first day 14 strokes ahead with 3 birdies for a first day total of 75. The next day, Ryan continued playing well; again with 3 birdies he finished day two at 79 leaving him with a two day total of 150. There was a tie for 2nd place today between Spencer DeLorme of Clayton, NC and Jacob Dunlap of Tampa, FL. They both had a two-day total of 170 and Jacob Dunlap of Tampa, FL. Placing 3rd, was Ian Rodriguez of Davie, FL with a two-day total of 178.      

Girls 14-18 Division

Natnicha Chompitakdacha of Thailand was the champion of the girls 14-18 division. At the conclusion of the first day with a 7-shot lead Natnicha finished with 4 birdies for a 70. Day two, Natnicha had 3 birdies for a total of 76. 8-shots behind, 2nd place went to Skylee Shin of Doral, FL with a two-day total of 154. Taking 3rd place was Rattika, Sittigool of Thailand with a two-day total of 155.        

Boys 11-13 Division

It was a fight to the finish for these boys today. Coming off the first round, Gonzalo Oliva Pinto of Argentina was 3 strokes behind the lead with 2 birdies for a total of 79. Concluding day two, Gonzalo and Baustista Echenique of Cordoba, FL were tied for 1st for a two-day total of 156. The boys fought it out in a sudden death playoff hole where Gonzalo was able to come out on top. Taking home the 3rd place trophy today was Gustavo Rangel of Puerto Rico with a two-day total of 160.      

Girls U13 Division

Sophie Anand of Fort Lauderdale, FL was the champion of the girls 13 and under division. Sophie was in the lead by two at the first round with a day one score of a 92. She managed to take it the finish line with a day two score of a 93, completing the weekend at a total of 185. Taking second was Agustina Robolledo of Chile, with a two-day total of 188. Third place went to Bela Mead of Aventura, FL with a two-day total of 190.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour


The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
