  On April 8th and 9th 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour continued its spring season at the renowned Jekyll Island Golf Club. Both the weather and course were beautiful throughout the weekend. Players took advantage of these great conditions by entertaining spectators with two impressive rounds of golf. Winners in all six age divisions will receive an invitation to the Tour Championship later on this year and the top ten finishers also received points towards the end of the year Hurricane Cup and HJGT teams.   Boys 16-18 Division  In the Boys 1

6-18 Division, Guxin Chen from Lakewood Ranch, Florida, took home first place and entertained spectators with consistent golf throughout the weekend. He captured the title with a two-day total of 145. His impressive rounds of 76 and 69 put him ahead of his competitors in a tight field. He clinched the victory with four birdies and thirteen pars on Sunday. Finishing second place was Jarod Edwards, from McDonough, Georgia. He shot a 75 on Saturday and a 74 on Sunday for a total score of 149. Also earning a trophy and finishing in third place from Savanna, Georgia was Connor Fischer. Connor showcased his talent by shooting a two-day total of 153. Overall, the Boys 16-18 Division was competitive this weekend and the top finishers played great golf.     Boys 14-15 Division

In the Boys 14-15 Division, James Ballato from Fernandina Beach, Florida, finished in first place. James claimed the title by shooting seven birdies throughout the weekend. James shot an impressive 71 in the first round and a 73 in the second round for a two-day total of 144. In second place was Jackson Cross, from Sugar Hill, Georgia. He shot a two-day total of 146. Ryan McHugh from St. Simons Island, Georgia, finished in third place with a two-day total of 148. The Boys 14-15 Division had an exciting week, and every competitor in the field displayed two high-quality rounds of golf.     Boys 11-13 Division

The Boys 11-13 Division has some promising talent. Noah Kirsch from Lancaster, Wisconsin, took home first place this weekend. He won with a determined mindset and was able to put together a great tournament, scoring a total of 159. Shooting an 80 on Saturday and an 79 on Sunday, Noah finished the weekend with three birdies and seventeen pars. Coming in second place was Roy Boyd from St. Simons Island, Georgia. Roy shot an 85on Saturday and a 78 on Sunday, finishing with a score of 163 for the tournament. Finishing in third place was Peter Garud from Macon, Georgia. He finished with a total score of 165. Overall, the Boys 11-13 Division brought their talent to the tournament and we were pleased to see great rounds of golf.   Girls 14-18 Division

The Girls 14-18 Division was competitive this weekend. Coming in first with a two-day total of 148 was Abbey Schimpf from Daniel Island, South Carolina. She posted a 73 in her first round. She clinched the title with a solid 75 in the second round. Coming in second place was Amelia Root from Jacksonville, Florida. She had a two-day total of 150. In third place from Daniel Island, South Carolina, was Emma Schimpf. Her two-day total was a solid 156. The Girls 14-18 Division once again proved to be one of the tightest groups this weekend.     Boys 10U Division

Gavin Fleming from Jacksonville, Florida, claimed first place in our Boys Under 10 Division with a two-day total of 149. He shot a 77 in the first round and 72 in the second round to take home the victory. Gavin played well, shooting seven birdies throughout the weekend. He earned his trophy by playing great golf throughout the tournament. Finishing in second place was Andy Cruz from Duluth, Georgia. He shot an 83 on Saturday and a 78 on Sunday for a two-day total of 161. Finishing in third place from St. Simons Island, Georgia, was Daniel McHugh. His two-day total was 185. The boys 10 and under division has a lot of potential and we are excited to see them again this spring.   Girls 13U Division

Our Girls 13 and Under Division played well in windy conditions. Hailey Han from Duluth, Georgia, claimed first place with a two-day total of 163. She shot a 82 in the first round and 81 in the second round to take home the victory. Hailey played well, shooting one birdie and nineteen pars throughout the weekend. She earned her trophy by playing great golf throughout the tournament. Finishing in second place was Mel Walker from Burke, Virginia. She shot a 91 on Saturday and a 92 on Sunday for a two-day total of 183. In third place was Maria Barr from St. Simons Island, Georgia with a two-day total of 219. The girls 13 and under division has a lot of potential and we are excited to see them again this spring.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
