Iowa Kickoff at The Harvester Golf Club

Golf Is life
On July 2nd and 3rd 2016, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Rhodes, IA to host the Iowa Kickoff at The Harvester Golf Club. The course contained plenty of hills, tall grass, and water to challenge the players, along with goats to see throughout the course. Saturday started with rain, but quit for the tournament. Sunday held blue skies and was a bit windy. Winners in all six age divisions will receive an automatic bid to the National Championship on December 3rd and 4th, 2016. The weekend was unbeatable all around, and the top ten finishers also received points towards end year honors, which include state teams, all HJGT teams, and the Hurricane Cup.
Boys 16-18 Division
In the boys 16-18 division, the championship trophy went to Chris Cooksley of Winthrop, IA. Cooksley shot an 83 in round one and cut off 9 strokes in round two for a score of 74. Cooksley had a tournament total of 157. Two-second place trophies went home due to a tie at 163. Brandt Radloff of Blair, NE took home one of the trophies. Radloff had a first round score of 81 and a second round score of 82. Radloff had a hole in one on hole 8. Tommy Doyle of Ames, IA took home the other second place trophy. Doyle had a round one score of 80 and a round two score of 83. The third place trophy went home with Joe Gibbons of Ames, IA. Gibbons brought in a round one score of 77 and a round two score of 91 for a total score of 168. Overall the boys 16-18 age division was very competitive this weekend and all of our top finishers played impressive golf.
Boys 14-15 Division
In the boys 14-15 age division, Matthew Garside of Vadnais Heights, MN took home first place. Garside had a total score of 156. He brought in a first round score of 81 and cut off six strokes in round two for a 75. Connor Neighbors of Cedar Rapids, IA was second. Neighbors brought in a 79 for both rounds and a tournament total of 158. Brock Winter of Stillwater, MN was third. Winter had a first round score of 80 and a second round score of 81. His total tournament score was 161. Overall the boys 14-15 age division was very competitive this weekend and all of our top finishers played impressive golf.
Boys 11-13 Division
In the boys 11-13 age division, Brock Snyder of Ames, IA was a solo competitor. Snyder had a first round score of 89 and a second round score of 96. His tournament total was 185.
Boys U10 Division
In the boys 10U division, Tony Song of Windsor Hts, IA was the solo competitor. Song had a first round score of 114 and a second round score of 115. His tournament total was 229. Snyder and Song stuck out the long course together and proved they were willing to compete.
Girls 14-18 Division
In the girls 14-18 division, Britta Snyder of Ames, IA took home the first place trophy. Snyder had a first round score of 83 and cut off 9 strokes in the second round for a 74. Snyder had a tournament total of 157 and 7 birdies. Second place went to Lexi Jonas of Hudson, WI. Jonas had a first round score of 87 and a second round score of 97. Her tournament total was 184. Third place went to Bethany Chen of Potomac, MD. Chen had a round one score of 109 and a 113 on round two. Chen had a total score of 222.
In the girls 13U division, Reese Clark of Geneva, IL was the solo competitor. Clark had a round one score of 108 and a second round score of 111. Her total tournament score was 219.

About The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of five age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Girls 14-18, and Girls 11-13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Texas, California, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Louisiana, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and more.
