Hurricane Tour Shop Series Indian Springs, OH May 31- June1


The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Indian Springs, Ohio on May 31 – June 1 for the Hurricane Tour Shop Series at Walden Ponds Golf Club. This two day, 36 hole tournament featured perfect weather conditions for our golfers to challenge and attack this well laid out and meticulously designed course. Saturday’s round began at 8am with a single tee start followed by Sunday’s 2pm shotgun start. Winners in all divisions received an invite to the Hurricane Tour Shop Invitational Aug. 9-10 in Myrtle Beach, SC, as well as an automatic bid into the 2014 Tour Championship December 6-7 and Mid Season Invitational June 22-24. Top 10 finishers also received points towards year end honors which include state teams, all HJGT teams, the Hurricane Cup, and Junior Golf Scoreboard Ranking.  


Boys 15-18  After two days of fierce competition Mason Lenhart of Prospect, Kentucky was crowned the Boys 15-18 Age Division Champion after he fired a tournament total of 149 (76, 73) over the two rounds of play. Lenhart also scored the most birdies in his division with 7 through the tournament. Eddie O’Brien of Grove City, Ohio placed second this weekend after he scored a weekend total of 152 (78, 74). Our third place finisher this weekend was Ian Clement of Sylvania, Ohio with a weekend total of 153.    


Girls 15-18 Richmond, Kentucky’s own Tristyn Nowlin was the Girls 15-18 Age Division Champion with the lowest score among all other competitors in their divisions. Nowlin carded a 140 (71, 69) in her two day tournament play, she also fired eight birdies. Her first place finish this weekend earned her four AJGA Stars. Lizzie Win of Sylvania, Ohio was our second place finisher after she carded a 151 (75, 76) weekend total. Wadsworth Ohio’s Alice Ho, was the third place finisher this weekend after scoring a 152.  


Boys 11-14  Troy Taylor of Westerville, Ohio was the Boys 11-14 Age Division Champion with a weekend total of 144 (71, 73). His win came after he carded six total birdies in his two days of play this weekend. Drew Doyle of Louisville, Kentucky tied for second place with Zacery Pavlin of Cincinnati, Ohio both carding a tournament total of 150.    


Girls 11-14 Nicole Adam of Mansfield, Ohio was the girls 11-14 age Division champion after carding a 158 (79,79) tournament total. In second place this weekend was Mackenzie Neal of Richmond, Virginia with a two day total of 163 (81, 82) and our third place finisher was Sydney Leyerle of Helena, Ohio with a total score of 166 (86,80).     Weather: Day 1- High of 82 and a low of 63 Day 2- High of 86 and a low of 68 Tournament Yardages: Boys 15-18: 6,851 yards Boys 11-14: 6,107 yards Girls 15-18: 5,747 yards Girls 11-14: 5,157 yards About us: The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment.
