The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour made a stop at Cherokee Valley Golf Club in Travelers Rest, SC to host the Greenville Junior Challenge. The weather conditions were ideal for both days of the tournament this week. The tournament saw a lot of close competition in all divisions. All the winners of each division will get an invite to the 2015 HJGT National Championship at Champions Gate.
The Boy’s 15-18 division saw some thrilling golf between all competitors with 4 strokes separating first through fourth place. Charles Hargrove from Cashiers, NC was able to claim the victory by 2 shots after posting scores of 75, +3 on day one and 78, +6 on day two for a two day total of 153. Hargrove started out with an even par front nine on the first day and that consistent play carried him the rest of the way, to edge the competition. Coming in second place this week was Ian Stewart of Colombia, SC with a two day total of 155 after posting scores of 78, +6 and 77, +5. Stewart along with Hargrove were the only players in the field to post both of their rounds in the 70’s this week. Coming in third place this week was Waitin Lee of Bangkok, Thailand with a two day total of 156 after shooting scores of 82, +10 and 74, +2. Lee’s 74, +2 was the low round of the tournament but it just wasn’t enough to comeback after his first round. In the end Charles Hargrove was able to hold off the competition and win the Greenville Junior Classic at Cherokee Valley
