The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour is excited to announce that the remainder of the 2014 schedule has been released. This Fall the HJGT will be hosting tournaments in several new states at some of the finest courses in the country. This seasons state expansion means there will be stops in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, and Indiana. The opportunity to play at some of the nation’s most prestigious courses presents itself at events such as Major Championships, College Prep Series’, Tour Championships and the Hurricane Cup. This fall will feature six Major Championships. Each major championship will be a high stake event and play a crucial role towards securing a spot on the Hurricane Cup teams. Major Championships provide the top 20 finishers with double the amount of points compared to normal events. In addition players are allowed to have their own caddie. The majors will be held at highly esteemed golf courses such as Woodward Golf Club in Alabama, Westlake in New Jersey, Maple Creek in Indiana, Myrtle Beach National in South Carolina, Fox Den in North Carolina, and Bethpage in New York. The fall schedule also features four College Prep Series events. These tournaments provide the opportunity for juniors to test their skills on some of the top collegiate golf courses in the nation. The events provide a challenge while also giving golfers a taste of the college golf experience. Playing host for these tournaments are the beautiful courses at Indiana University, Purdue University, Louisville University, and the University of Georgia. The Hurricane Cup returns this year for the second time and will take place November 28-30 at Sea Island Retreat in Sea Island, GA. The event will be comprised of 12 total teams broken down by the states in which the HJGT players reside. The teams will be Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Ohio/Indiana, New York/New Jersey, Virginia/Maryland and International/Wildcard. Each team will be made up of three boys and two girls from the 15-18 divisions as well as two boys and one girl from the 11-14 divisions. Tour members who have earned the most points throughout the 2014 season will be selected to play and represent their state. Players have been accumulating points since the first event in 2014 and the point race will end on November 2nd. The Tour Championship will wrap up the 2014 season. This contest is a highly competitive invite only event featuring the winners of 2014 HJGT tournaments. The Boys divisions will be playing at the premier venue of ChampionsGate Golf Club in Orlando, Florida for the fourth year. The Girls divisions will be playing at Hawks Landing Golf Course in Orlando, Florida for the first time. The Tour Championship will provide the highest level of competition available during the 2014 HJGT season. This Fall the tour features events at new venues that are highly distinguished courses. The HJGT strives to provide their golfers with the highest quality and most challenging courses available. These host venues include several in our new expansion states. The Florida Fall Challenge plays at Grande Pines in Orlando, which is one of GolfWeek’s Top 100 America’s Best Resort Courses. In new expansion state New York, Bethpage Golf Club houses a Major Championship. Bethpage was host to the United States Open in 2002 and 2009. Hosting the Athens Jr. Shootout is the Georgia Club in Statham, Georgia which is as visually appealing as it is to play. Hosting the College Prep Series at Purdue University is their home course of Kampen. That course is rated one of the top collegiate courses in the nation and has been awarded four and a half stars on Golf Digest's “Places to Play.” Lastly, the Pittsburgh Jr. Shootout is being played at the Quicksilver Golf Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania which is an award-winning course and been host to the Senior PGA Tour and the Ben Hogan Tour. The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of four age divisions: Boys 15-18, Boys 11-14, Girls 11-14 and Girls 15-18.
