First Coast Junior Open at Amelia Island Plantation

    On Thursday, June 8th, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Amelia, FL to host the First Coast Junior Open at the stunning Amelia Island Plantation, Oak Marsh Golf Course. The players were treated to beautiful weather all weekend resulting in impressive scoring across each age division. The golf course was in fantastic condition and the winners took advantage of the perfect conditions to win on the challenging Oak Marsh course.  Boys 16-18


Boys 16-18 amelia

Chase Scholze of Stuart, FL is the Boys 16-18 champion. Scholze started the weekend off with the low first round across his age group and continued this momentum into the final round on Sunday. Scholze’s first round contained 3 birdies and was a solid performance on a difficult course. Taking a 1 shot lead into round 2 Scholze extended this lead to 10 strokes and cruised to victory. Scholze had a two-day total of 155 (77-78). Ryan Crema of Windermere, FL finished in 2nd with a two-day total of 165 (78-87). Yezhao Ma claimed 3rd place. Ma finished with a two-day total of 169 (81-88). The players had a great time competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country.     Boys 14-15  

Boys 14-15 Amelia

Clay Tucker of Jacksonville, FL is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Tucker enjoyed his time here in Amelia where he was very consistent over the weekend. Improving on his opening round by 3 strokes on Sunday to claim a four shot victory. He finished with a two-day total of 159 (81-78) to claim the title. Jim Cai of Bradenton, FL came in a close 2nd after finishing with a two-day total of 163 (84-79). Mason Kleinlein of Statesboro, GA turned in a two-day total of 167 (84-83) to secure a 3rd place finish. This division was extremely close with a great level of competition and each player can walk away proud of their effort.     Boys 11-13  

Boys 11-13 Amelia

McCord Grice of Atlanta, GA is the Boys 11-13 champion. Grice had an extremely impressive two rounds, which allowed him to dominate his division. Grice finished with a two-day total of 155 (76-79) for a very impressive 29 shot victory. Joshua Achord of Walker, LA finished in 2nd with two-day total of 184 (95-89). The boys had a fun time navigating through the course and showed maturity beyond their years in assaulting its many challenges.            Girls 14-18  

Girls 14-18 amelia

Lacey Tucker of Jacksonville, FL is the Girls 14-18 champion. Tucker opened with an 82 on Saturday and followed that with a solid round of 83 to finish with a two-day total of 165 and a 2-stroke lead. Finishing in 2nd from Bradenton, FL was Baining Wang who posted rounds of 86 and 81 to finish with a total of 167. Sutton Rollins of Blackshear, GA finished in 3rd place with a two-day total of 173 (96-77). Rollins had a very impressive comeback in round 2 improving by 19 strokes from round 1. The ladies each enjoyed their experience, with some intense competition down the stretch; many of the best round was featured on the final day.  Girls 13U

Xiaoran Xu is the Girls 13 and under champion. Xu of Bradenton, FL emerged victorious after posting a two-day total of 186 (91-95). She posted her best round on Sunday with a 91. As Xu was the only one in her age division she played with older players and brought a very mature attitude. About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
