GAINESVILLE, Florida (February 5, 2012) – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour was at the Haile Plantation Golf and Country Club this weekend for the Kikkor Golf Series. Saturday and Sunday proved to be two of the best days for weather the HJGT season has seen so far this season. Saturday came with blue skies and sunshine along with a pleasant breeze and warm temperatures. Temperatures on Sunday reached a high of 76 with partly sunny skies. The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour would like to thank Kikkor Golf shoes for being this weekend’s title sponsor. Kikkor Golf Shoes is one of the more innovative, high quality golf shoes in the sport industry. As a result of winning this weekend, winners received a free pair of Kikkor Golf shoes for their efforts. The HJGT would also like to extend a special thanks to the Haile Plantation Golf and Country Club for hosting the tournament this weekend. A very competitive field was evident in the Boys 15-18 Division this weekend. First place was taken by Josh Dubberly of LaCrosse, Florida. Dubberly posted a two day total score of +1 (68+75=143). Dubberly was able to maintain the lead with three birdies coming in the second round. He took home the most birdies for the weekend with a total of eight. Dubberly had the best Par 4 average (4.14) and the best Par 5 average (4.70) for the weekend also. Coming in at second was Pureun Kim of Gainesville, Florida. Kim posted a two day total score of +3 (68+77=145). Kim was only two strokes behind from competing in a playoff hole for the win. Kim took home a total of seven birdies for the weekend and placed second in the best Par 5 average (5.10). Third place was taken by Scott Eum of South Korea. Eum previously won a tournament at Mystic Dunes golf course earlier in the season. Eum posted a two day total score 152. The Girls 15-18 Division competition was very close this weekend. Julie Kim of South Korea  took her first tournament win of the season with a two day total score of + 1 (72+71=143). Kim posted a total of seven birdies for the weekend with four of them coming in the second round to help her take first place. Second place was taken by Amanda Kim of South Korea who posted a two day total score of +2 (72+72=144). Kim was tied for the lead after the first round, but lost by one stroke. Amanda had the most birdies for the weekend with a total of seven. There was a tie for third place between Carianne Wright of DeBary, Florida, and Emmy Martin of Odessa, Florida. Both players posted a total score of 145 for the weekend. Wright had the best Par 3 performance average (3.00) and Martin had the best Par 4 performance average (3.93). The Boys 11-14 Division winner was decided by a playoff hole between Will Duma of Atlanta, GA, and Brandon Mancheno of Jacksonville, Fl. Duma won the playoff hole to take first place posting a two day total score of + 2 (73+71=144). Mancheno had a very impressive round by posting a round two total of 67. Mancheno made an eagle on hole four which was a par 5. He parred the next hole and then made three consecutive birdies. Mancheno played very well but lost in the playoff hole. Third place was taken by Gray Kent of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Kent posted a two day total score of +7 (77+72=149). Kent finished second in the best Par 3 performance with an average of 3.00 Mimi Chen took first place this weekend in the Girls 11-14 Division. Chen posted a two day total score of 171. Chen had the most birdies of the division with a total of three. Chen also had the best Par 3 performance average (3.50) Lynsie Belan of TyTy, Georgia took second place with a two day total score of 178. Belan had the most pars with 13, and the best Par 5 Performance (5.60). Third place was taken by Lauren Heinlein of Ocala, Fl. Heinlein posted a two day total score of 190.
