Hitting Pretty in Mile High City
On July 30th and 31st 2016, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Monument, CO to host the Denver Junior Classic at King's Deer Golf Club. The course was full of challenging hazards and greens. Saturday was warm from the beginning with a few rolls of thunder, but never any rain. Sunday contained a lovely sunrise that warmed things up for the rest of the round. Winners in all six-age divisions will receive an automatic bid to the National Championship on December 3rd and 4th, 2016. The weekend was unbeatable all around, and the top ten finishers also received points towards end year honors, which include state teams, all HJGT teams, and the Hurricane Cup.
Boys 16-18 Division

In the boys 16-18 division, after two impressive rounds Jay Yano of Centennial, CO took home the first place trophy. Yano had a round one score of 73 and a round two score of 74. His tournament total was 147 with two birdies and one eagle. Micah Ramirez of Loveland, CO took home the second place trophy. Ramirez had two nice rounds as well, with scores of 77 and 75. His tournament total was 152 with 6 birdies. Luke Trujillo of Colorado Springs, CO took home the third place trophy. Trujillo had a round one score of 80 and a round two score of 79. His tournament total was 159. Overall the boys 16-18 age division was very competitive this weekend and all of our top finishers played impressive golf.
Boys 11-13 Division

In the boys 11-13 age division, James Beckett of Kiowa, CO took home the first place trophy. Beckett had a round one score of 96 and cut 8 strokes in round two for an 88. Beckett's tournament total was 184. Mason Macias of Littleton, CO took home the second place trophy. Macias had a round one score of 91 and a round two score of 100. His tournament total was 191. Sage Hurley of Dillion, CO took home the second place trophy. Hurley had a round one score of 102 and a round two score of 103. His tournament total was 205.
Boys U10 Division

In the boys U10 division, Reese Knox of Peyton, CO took home the first place trophy. Knox had a round one score of 98 and cut five strokes in round two for a 93. Knox's tournament total was 191. Spencer Schlagel of Parker, CO took home the second place trophy. Schlagel had a round one score of 107 and a round two score of 113. His tournament total was 220. Rudiger Heitz of Mead, CO took home the third place trophy. Heitz had a round one score of 119 and a round two score of 121. His tournament total was 240.
Girls 14-18 Division

In the girls 14-18 division, there were only two competitors battling it out. Stevie Albright of San Antonio, TX took home the first place trophy with a total score of 180. Albright had a round one score of 91 and lost two strokes in round two for an 89. Alexandria Hill of Colorado Springs, CO took home the second place trophy. Hill had a round one score of 100 and a round two score of 115. Her tournament total was 215.

About the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of five age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Girls 14-18, and Girls 11-13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Texas, California, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Louisiana, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and more.
