Dana Rader Junior Shootout, September 17-18, 2016

Dana Rader Junior Shootout

(September 17-18, 2016)

On Saturday, September 17th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s Jacksonville team hosted a junior event at Albermarle, NC. The event was called the Dana Rader Junior Challenge, and was held at the stunning Red Bridge Golf Course & Country Club. HJGT would like to thank the Red Bridge staff for allowing us to host our tournament at such a great venue. A combination of heat and hills was a great test for every player in our field and made for quite a few close finishes by the end of the second round. The golf course was in great condition, and there was no better place to have this event. Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings will award each division winners with an exemption into the 2016 Tour Championship on December 3-4, 2016. The Top 10 players will also receive points towards year end honors which include, all HJGT teams, and the Hurricane Cup. The weekend was full of great play and exciting shots which were highlighted with a hole-in-one and a hole-out eagle to force a playoff for the Boys 14-15! There is nothing better than seeing a smile on a player’s face at the end of the day.

  Boys 16-18 Division

Zander McCall of Statesville, NC was the champion of the Boys 16-18 division.  The competition of the Boys 16-18 was fierce this weekend with the final round threesome coming down to the wire with Zander coming out with the win! Zander set a blistering pace during the first round with a 75 that proved to be too much for the rest of the field. The only thing nicer than the weather this weekend would have to be this young man’s swing!

Narayan Mohan of Charlotte, NC was the champion of the Boys 14-15 division.  The first round might not have been what Narayan was looking for however, that didn’t seem to bother him at all with the only under par round of the weekend (71) during round two. With a hole-out eagle on the par five 18th to force a deciding play-off hole to where Narayan would keep that 18th hole magic alive to come away with the victory. What and exciting way to end the weekend, congratulations Narayan!

          Girls 14-18 Division

awww

Kat Floyd of Chapel Hill, NC was the champion of the Girls 14-18 division.  The lone girl in her field Kat faced the toughest competition there is in golf, the inner monologue. With a low score for the girls (79) Kat was able to put two rather impressive round together and from her interview was able to birdie her least favorite hole on the course which may have been just as rewarding as that trophy she ended up holding after her final round.

    Boys 11-13 Division

Will Conway of Weddington, NC was the champion of the Boys 11-13 division. This young man is well on his way to becoming an all-around golfer. With the lowest score in his age division it was nothing but another day on the course for Will. With a masterful (79) in his first round young Will Conway cruised to the finish line with a big win and a big smile!

    Girls 13 Under Division

Kat Floyd of Rock Hill, SC was the champion of the Girls 13 under division. A playoff hole after 36 holes may have been the tightest race we had this weekend but these girls came down to one stroke! The first round turned out to be the deciding factor (88), as the pairing stayed neck-and-neck during the final round. You could tell how great the competition was with the reflection of her infectious smile in that trophy during the final interview!
