The Green Monster at the Trails of Frisco Golf Club
On Saturday, October 29-30, 2016, the Hurricane Junior golf Tour Traveled to Frisco, TX to host the Dallas Junior Challenge at the Trails of Frisco Golf Club. The weather for this weekend was hot and humid. Saturday afternoon was gusty with temperatures in the high-80s. Sunday morning showcased mellow winds with temperatures in the high-80s as well. The tour would like to thank Ryan and the outside operations staff for letting us host the tournament at the Trails of Frisco Golf Club The 38 Junior golfers shot impressive scores, considering the many hazards the course presented. This course required patience and perseverance in order to produce a satisfying score. Thank you everyone for hanging in there and toughing it out until the end. These junior golfers were playing for JGS rankings, AJGA stars, first place trophies, and an invite to the National Championship that will be held on December 3-4, 2016. See you all next year to take on this green monster once again.
Boys 16-18

After shooting a round one of 73 and a round two 78 for a 152 total, Austin Heatherlu from Greenville, TX clinched the boys 16-18 division title. This win has secured a spot him a spot in the National Championship, which will be held on December 3-4, 2016. Hope to see you there, Austin. In second was Toby Huffman from The Colony, TX. He shot an 83 and a 79 for a total of 162. Fishing in third was Harrison John from Lafayette, LA. He shot an 86 and a 90 for a total of 176. Girls 14-18

Congratulations to Jacqueline Moreno from Arlington, TX. She received the gold with two solid scores of 77 and 75 for a total of 152. This win also qualifies her for the National Championship, which will be held on December 3-4, 2016. Hope to see you there, Jacqueline. Trailing by One stroke was Bella Washka from Lantana, TX. She posted two rounds of an 80 and a 73 for a total of 153. Rounding out the top three was Phoebe Yuan from Allen, TX. She fired a one over 72 in round one and an 87 in round 2 for a total of 159. Boys 14-15

With two scores of 80 and an 82 for a total of 156, Chris Park from Plan, TX took home the first place trophy. Chris persevered through both rounds to pull off a one stroke lead to close the tournament. This win qualifies him for The National Championship, which will be held on December 3-4, 2016. Hope to see you there, Chris. In second was Jack Watson from Dallas, TX. He shot an 84 and a 79 for a total of 157. Jack showed great improvement by shaving off five strokes in his second round to come up just shy of the win by one stroke. In third place was Ian Davis from Dallas, TX. Boys 11-13

Congrats to Chase Walts from Flower Mound, TX. He shot two round of 79 and an 83 for a total of 162. Chase put on a great wedge game to entertain the spectators. He mentioned that he had been working on his short game and it proved to pay off. This first tour win has qualified him for a spot at the National Championship, which will be held on December 3-4 2016. Hope to see you there, Chase. Finishing in second was Kyle Nguyenphu from Allen, TX. He posted an 89 and a 91 for a total of 180. Boys U10

Congrats to Shaun Thompson Jr. from Fulshear, TX. He started round one with an 80 and closed out round two with and 84 for a total of 164. Shaun’s great accuracy skills helped him to avoid the vast amount of hazards that surrounded the course, but he wished his putting was a little better. This win has qualified him for the National Championship, which will be held on December 3-4, 2016.We hope to see you there, Shaun. Finishing in a two way tie for second was Dylan Ford from Sonora, TX and Nicholas Granitz form Frisco, TX . They both finished with a 182 total to share second place. Girls U13

With a superb three over par two round finish, Avery Zweig from McKinney, TX dominated the girls 13-under division and also the girls overall division. She shot an even par 71 in round one and a three over par 74 for a total of 145. This was an impressive finish form a girl who is only nine years old. Great job, Avery!! This victory has qualified her for the National Championship, which will be held on December 3-4, 2016. We hope to see you there, Avery. In second was Summer Lee from Plano, TX. She shot an 81 and a 77 for a total of 158. In third was Halli Moore from Prosper, TX. She shot a 79 and an 81 for a total of 160. About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13.
