College Prep Series at Purdue University West Lafayette, IN Oct. 18-19

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) is excited to invite you to our final event in Indiana for 2014! After an incredible run in Indiana this year, we are wrapping it up with an equally great event! The College Prep Series at Purdue University will be held Saturday, October 18th through Sunday, October 19th at the Purdue University, Kampen Course. The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s Indiana schedule has drawn to a close, so don’t miss out on this final opportunity to earn those all-important Hurricane Cup Points and the chance to represent your state in our 2014 Hurricane Cup- a Ryder Cup style invitational held at Sea Island Golf Club, exclusive home of the PGA’s McGladrey Classic. The College Prep Series at Purdue University is open to all golfers between the ages of 11-18. At stake in this event are opportunities to earn Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings (JGS), and AJGA Performance Stars if the respective field sizes are met within each age division. First place finishers in each division receive an automatic bid to the 2014 Tour Championship, held on December 6th-7th. Top 15 finishers receive points towards year end honors, including state teams, ALL HJGT teams, and the Hurricane Cup. This event is a two-day, 36 hole event. The first round will kick off Saturday, October 18th with a single tee start running from 10:10AM to 1:10PM. The second round will begin Sunday, October 19th with a single tee start running from 9:00AM to 12:00PM. Registration fees for HJGT members are $185 and $215 for non-members. The Kampen Course, a Pete Dye design, is an 18-hole, links-style, par-72 championship golf course featuring large bent-grass greens, fairways and tees. The layout presents a challenge for golfers of all abilities with vast sand bunkers, native grasslands, ponds and a natural celery bog. Kampen offers five sets of tees with the championship tees playing over 7,400 yards and the forward tees playing at 5,300 yards. Kampen is rated one of the top collegiate courses in the nation and has been awarded 4.5 stars on Golf Digest's “Places to Play.” Kampen receives high marks as it is ranked as one of the most difficult golf courses in Indiana. The course has also played host to a number of prestigious collegiate and public tournaments such as the 2000 Men's Big Ten Championship, the 2003 Women's NCAA Championship, the 2004 Indiana Open, the 2005 Women's Western Amateur, and the 2008 Men's NCAA Championship. The course is named in honor of Emerson Kampen and his support of Purdue Athletics. Mr. Kampen's statue overlooks the first tee. - See more at:
