HJGT Returns to The Claw at USF
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) will return to the University of South Florida for the second year in a row. The Claw at USF will be the host venue for the College Prep Series March 31-April 1, 2012. This will be the first event of the College Prep Series in the 2012 HJGT Season. Participants can expect to see a more challenging weekend with college like yardages. The boys will play an average of around 7,000 yards, and the girls will play about 6,000 yards. All participants will receive one dozen Bridgestone B330 golf balls. The College Prep Series at USF will feature 36-holes of stroke play on the club’s 18 hole course across four age divisions: Boys 15-18, Boys 11-14, Girls 15-18 and Girls 11-14. The College Prep Series will also have multiple opportunities at stake. There will be AJGA Exemptions for both the Boys and Girls 15-18 Divisions. The Boys 15-18 Champion will receive 4 Performance Stars if the field has 40 or more players. The Girls 15-18 Division Champion will also receive 4 Performance Stars if the field has 12 or more players. Florida Junior Tour Exemptions will also be present. The Boys and Girls 15-18 Division Champions will receive one exemption, and the Boys 11-14 Division Champion will receive one exemption also. Winners in each division will receive an automatic bid into the 2012 Tour Championship. Winners in each division will also receive one Bridgestone wedge. Premium members will compete in the Bridgestone Challenge. Winners of the challenge in each division receive a dozen of B330 Golf Balls and Bridgestone Hat. Also in the tournaments, the winners in each of the age divisions will receive a free pair of Kikkor Golf shoes. The Claw at the University of South Florida is home to the university’s men’s and women’s golf teams. The course is one of the more challenging venues in the Tampa area. The Claw has also been voted to have some of the best putting greens in Tampa, Florida. Home to the course are many different species of wildlife, including deer, alligators and other species native to Florida. With all of these attributes combined, The Claw will prove to be challenging yet enjoyable for all junior golfers.
