College Prep Series at UK at Lexington, Kentucky

On Thursday, May 19th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Lexington, KY to host the College Prep Series at UK. With great weather in the forecast, the kids were ready to make their mark on the tour’s College Prep Series at UK. Saturday’s weather was partly cloudy with some rain showers, which made it a wet start to the tournament. The weather was better on Sunday, sunny with a slight breeze making it a gorgeous day for golf. On both days, the field of players received near ideal conditions, which led to great scoring. The HJGT would like to thank the University Club staff for allowing us to host our College Prep Series at a great venue.
Boys 16-18 Division
Joe Muschong of Lexington, KY was the champion of the Boys 16-18 Division. Muschong was able to seal up the first place position after shooting a 72 for both rounds. Hayden Riney of Owensboro, KY took home the second place trophy after shooting a 147 for the tournament. The 3rd place trophy went to both Micah Knisley of Jefferson City, TN and Hayden Zimmerer of Louisville, KY. They both finished the College Prep Series at UK with a total score of 149. Hayden Zimmerer was the division’s birdie leader with 9. The longest bogey free streak goes to Cooper Parks and Hayden Riney with 13 holes each.
Boys 14-15 Division
The boys 14-15 division was clearly led by front runner Aidric Chan of Worthington, OH who took home the first place trophy at the College Prep Series. Chan shot a 70 in Round 1 and a 74 in Round 2. Stephen Warren of Owensboro, KY placed 2nd after shooting a 158 for the weekend. The 3rd place trophy went to Daniel Love of Owensboro, KY who shot a 161. The division’s birdie leader was Aidric Chan with 6. Aidric Chan set the longest bogey free streak of the division with 16 holes.
Boys 11-13 Division
The boys 11-13 division 1st place champion was Jason Wang of Lexington, KY. Wang was the winner of a playoff versus Braden Hoisington of Dardenne Prairie, MO. Wang and Hoisington had a score of 157 before the playoff. There was a two-way tie for 3rd place. Both Mason Hamrick of Richmond, KY and Cayden Pope of Lexington, KY took home a 3rd place trophy. Mason and Pope both finished the College Prep Series at UK with a score of 158. The division’s birdie leader was Jason Wang with 6. The longest bogey free streak of the division goes to Grant Puckett of Clay, KY with 8 holes.
Girls 14-18 Division
The girls 14-18 division’s champion was Hadley Walts of Evansville, IN. Walts shot a 70 in Round 1 and a 78 in Round 2 to lock up the first place position. Nina Rutkowski of Parkridge, IL placed 2nd after shooting a 152 for the tournament. The 3rd place trophy went home with Lizzie Loy of Jamestown, KY who shot a 154 for the weekend. The division’s birdie leaders are Sam Paulak and Hadley Walts with 5 birdies each. The longest bogey free streak of the division goes to Nina Rutkowski of Parkridge, IL with 13 holes.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
