College Prep Series at UGA

  On the twenty-eighth day of September, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour landed in Athens, Georgia, a quiet town thanks to the away football game in Jacksonville, Fl. Scoring conditions were prime as the first round began, with temperatures staying below eighty-five degrees thanks to fall conditions. The final round mirrored the conditions of the first round. The staff at the Hurricane Junior Golf Course would like to thank UGA staff for allowing us to host this large event at their facilities. Important awards that were available for the players were; the top 10 finishers received points towards year end honors which include state teams, ALL HJGT teams, and the Hurricane Cup, Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings (JGS), AJGA Stars and winners in each division will receive an exemption into the 2016 National Championship December 3-4, 2016.     Boys 16-18 Division  


Takafumi Shimoji of Suwanee, Georgia walked away on Sunday with a trophy after holding off his competitors with a 1 shot lead, finishing at 5 over for weekend. Second place was secured by Owen Sertl of Marietta, Georgia finishing at 6 over par.           Boys 14-15 Division  


Jack Vajda of Canton, Georgia secured a win this weekend posting a 74, 76 for a 150 total. By posting these great rounds he was able to hold a two shot lead over his nearest competitor, Brandon Cho of Suwanee, Georgia.           Boys 11-13 Division  


Jake Peacock of Milton, Georgia fired an impressive one-under par first round, followed by an even par final round to create a 15 shot deficit that his competitors simply could not overcome. Finishing second was Deven Patel of Johns Creek, Georgia.           Girls 14-18 Division  


Hanna Kiefer of Kronberg, Germany, finished the final round with a 149 total that gave her a 2-shot victory over the second place finisher, Linda Trockel, 151. Third place was secured by Sophia Kalusche.         Girls U13  


Sara Im of Duluth, Georgia fired an even-par 72 on saturday, followed by a 78 on sunday to secure her win in this age division. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
