HJGT Rolls into Gator Country

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) will be in Gainesville, FL, for the second time this season at the University of Florida Golf Course. The HJGT will host the Bridgestone College Prep Series on May 5-6, 2012. This will be the second College Prep Series event of the 2012 season. Junior golfers who play this tournament can expect to play college like yardages. The Boys division will play around 7, 000 yards, and the Girls division will play around 6,000 yards. Along with the college yardages, AJGA Performance Stars and Florida Junior Tour Exemptions will be at stake. The Boys and Girls 15-18 Champion will receive four AJGA Performance Stars, and one FJT exemption, while the Boys 11-14 Division will receive one FJT exemption. The Bridgestone College Prep Series will give junior golfers a chance to see what it is like to play college golf. The tournament will feature 36 holes of stroke play across four age divisions: Boys 15-18, Boys 11-14, Girls 15-18 and Girls 11-14. There will also be prizes and rewards up for the taking just like every other HJGT tournament. Premium members will have the opportunity to participate in the Bridgestone Challenge. Junior golfers who have the premium level membership package and win in their respective age divisions will each receive a dozen Bridgestone B330 golf balls, as well as a Bridgestone hat. Secondly, the event will also be ranked by the Junior Golf Scoreboard. Winners across all divisions will receive an automatic bid into the 2012 HJGT Tour Championship.  The championship will be played on December 8-9, 2012, at the end of the season. The University of Florida Golf Course is located on the northwest corner of the University of Florida campus. The UF course is a par 70 course and has a total of 6,701 yards. The course was originally designed and built in the 1920s, by Donald Ross, and underwent a $4 million renovation in 2001. The course serves as the host venue for the Gator Invitational, the Gator Women’s Golf Invitational, and Gator Golf Day.
