College Prep Series at the University of Virginia
(June 3 – 4, 2017)
On Thursday, June 2nd, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Charlottesville, VA to hold the College Prep Series at the University of Virginia hosted by the immaculately manicured, Birdwood Golf Course. Saturday and Sunday both saw borderline hot temperatures with breezy conditions for the players to tackle, and the field did just that. AJGA stars were up for grabs this week for the Boys 16 – 18 division champion and top 5 finishers. All in all, this weekend in early June brought nothing but sunshine and smiles for our competitors, and the scores showed that fact.
Benjamin Kruper is the Boys 16-18 champion. Kruper ensured he would take home the division by carding a 71 on Saturday, and a 76 on Sunday for a two-day total of 147. Gregor Meyer of Pittsburgh, PA finished in 2nd with a two-day total of 149 (75-74). 3rd place was taken home by Louis Revil-Flavier (74-77) and Cam Barackman (72-79) who carded a two-day total of 151. This division was excited to play against such stiff competition that resulted in an even more exciting finish. Boys 14-15
Kelly Chinn is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. A low second round was the key for Chinn as he posted a 76 on Saturday, and a 71 on Sunday for a 147 two-day total to claim the title. Ryan Moylan of Vero Beach, FL took home the second place trophy after finishing with a two-day total of 150 (77-73). Third place was taken home by Noah Siman of Rockville, MD who posted a two-day score of 153 (80-73). The Boys 14-15 division saw some fantastic competition that gave the entire field of spectators and HJGT staff an excellent show on the finishing holes.
Rohan Singh is the Boys 11-13 champion. A pair of 74’s was enough to secure the victory for the Ashburn, VA native, finishing with a two-day total of 148. Mehrbaan Singh of Ashburn, VA took home second place posting a two-day score of 157 (82-75). Jack Hoyle of Midlothian, VA took home 3rd place honors with a two-day total of 185 (95-90). This group of boys showed nothing but class, sportsmanship and gentleman like behavior as they battled through hot temperatures and a challenging course. Girls 14-18

The girls displayed tremendous fortitude while trekking through the difficult course layout. Boys 10U

Wu posted a two-day score of 160 to become the champion of the College Prep Series at the University of Virginia. Jeremiah Smith finished with a two-day total of 207 (107-100) that was good enough for a second place finish and a new trophy for the collection.
