Greenville, SC (November 11) – The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Greenville, SC this weekend to host the College Prep Series at Furman University.  The event was held at the gorgeous Furman University golf course which was in great excellent condition.  The event featured over 90 players from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, including a handful of international players from all over the globe.  The tournament was ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard and the South Carolina Junior Golf Association rankings.  The first place winner for each division will also receive and automatic bid into the end of year tour championship on December 8-9 at Championsgate in Orlando, FL.  The weather was very nice all weekend, although featuring a little chill early in the morning, the temperature rose to the mid 60’s during the day.   The Boys 15-18 Division was won by Jackson Weede, a local product from Greenville, who shot an outstanding 75-72 –147 over the weekend.  Weede led the boys in a few statistical categories including most pars or better (80.6%), most pars (25), and par 4 performance (4.15).  The second place trophy was earned by Luke Farley of Durham, NC.  Farley posted an impressive 77-75 – 152 over the weekend while also leading the boys with1 eagle.  Coming in a close third place was a three-way tie between Gustavo Arizpe of Myrtle Beach, Gray Townsend, and Aaron Purviance, both from Winston-Salem, NC.  Townsend led the boys in par 3 performance with 2.88.  Arizpe led the boys in par 5 performance with 4.75.  Oliver Lehmann, from Switzerland, also earned a first place in several statistical categories including birdies (9) and most par breakers (25%).   The Girls 15-18 Division was won by Carly Burkhardt, another local product from Greenville, who shot an outstanding 76-73 –149.  Burkhardt continued her impressive weekend as she led the ladies in every single statistical category including most birdies (5), most par breakers (13.9%), most pars (24), most pars or better (80.6%), par 3 performance (3.25), par 4 performance (4.20), and par 5 performance (4.88).  Coming in second place from Alpharetta, GA was Payton Schanen who shot a 77-79 –156 over the weekend.  Not too far behind Schanen for third place was Allyson Dunn from Kingsport, TN.  Dunn posted a 79-79 – 158 over the weekend at Furman.   The Boys 11-14 Division was won by Candler Rice of Asheville, NC.  Rice shot a quality 83-79 – 162 over the weekend as he earned himself a first place trophy.  Rice led the boys in a few statistical categories including par 4 performance (4.45), par 5 performance (5.50), most pars (17), and most pars or better (50%).  Coming in second place was Levi Moody of nearby Greenville, SC who shot a 84-85 – 169 over the weekend.
