College Prep Series at Clemson
(July 17-18, 2017)
On Saturday July 16th, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Clemson, SC to host the College Prep Series at The Walker Course. The players and staff were blessed with three days of gorgeous weather at a beautiful golf course. With such good conditions, it is no wonder we saw some great scores out there! There was quite a bit at stake in this tournament with the top three in each division receiving exemption from the 2017 National Championship in December. The top ten in each division will receive points towards end of the year honors which include state teams, All HJGT teams, and the Hurricane cup. SCJGA and TYGA points were up for grabs as well Boys 16-18
Drew Lanier of Maitland, FL is the Boys 16-18 champion. Drew solidified the victory in his division carding a 76 Monday and 71 Tueday for a two-day total of 147. Karsten Shields of Monroe, NC finished in 2nd with a two-day total of 148 (77-71). Sole possession of 3rd place belongs to Andrew Jacobs of Leesburg, VA who shot a two day total of 150. The players had a great time competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country. Boys 14-15
After a thrilling playoff, Ford Reynolds of Columbia, SC is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. After a first round score of 76 Saturday left him 5 back, he knew he had work to do. With a sublime 71 on Sunday for a 147 two-day total, Ford was able to beat AJ Shaffer of Horse Shoe, NC, with a par on the second playoff hole. Griffin Tarver, of Tega Cay, SC, and Mason Kleinlein of Statesboro, GA, tied for third place with two day totals of 148. This division had some fantastic competition and all the players can leave Clemson with their heads held high. Boys 11-13
Colten Wilson of Danville, KY is the Boys 11-13 champion. After an 82 on Monday, Wilson closed strongly with a final round of 73 to secure the victory finishing with a two-day total of 155. Brett Cooper of Hixson, TN, came in 2nd with a two-day total of 169. Mitchell McNeill of North Augusta, SC, finished alone in 3rd place with a two-day total of 176 (86-90). The boys had a fun time navigating through the course and showed maturity beyond their years in taking on its many challenges. Girls 14-18
Katherine Schuster of Kill Devil Hills, NC, is the Girls 14-18 champion. Schuster posted a near perfect 74 Monday and followed that with a sensational 72 on Sunday for a two-day total of 146. Finishing in 2nd from Wilmington, NC, was Caroline Crumrine, who posted rounds of 77 and 72 to finish with a total of 149. Michelle Cao of Duluth, GA, finished in 3rd place with a two-day total of 153 (77-76). The ladies each enjoyed their experience, with some intense competition down the stretch.
Sam Terry of Thomasville, NC, took home the 1st place trophy for the Boys 10U division. Fahey, who took a commanding lead after day one, posted a Sunday score of 78 to finish with a 163 total (85-78). Christian Haskins of Johns Island, SC, took home second place with a two day total of 228. These boys had fun and gave the spectators of what the future of golf looks like.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
