College Prep Series at Augusta State
(July 29-30, 2017)
On Thursday, July 27, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Augusta, GA to host the College Prep Series at Forest Hills Golf Club. The players had fun navigating through the course, and the spectators enjoyed watching the close and intense competition. Overall, we had a great weekend and we couldn’t be happier with the results! There was a lot at stake for this tournament with the top 3 in each division receiving exemption into the 2017 National Championship. The top 10 in each division would receive points towards end of the year honors which include State teams, All HJGT team, and the Hurricane Cup.
Boys 16-18

Walker Winslette of Canton, GA is the Boys 16-18 champion. Winslette posted a 72 in both rounds this weekend to claim the title with a two-day total of 144. Patrick Jean-Pierre of Augusta, GA and Logan Bracey of Warner Robins, GA tied for second place with an overall score of 152. Jean-Pierre posted a 78 on Saturday and a 74 on Sunday, while Bracey posted a 75 on Saturday and a 77 on Sunday. The players had a great time competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country. Boys 14-15

Owen Whitehead of Martinez, GA is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Whitehead won his division by posting a 73 on Saturday and a 78 on Sunday for a two-day total of 151. Kam McDaniel of Harlem, GA came in second after finishing with a two-day total of 154 (78-76). Lucas Hopkins of Thomson, GA was the third place finisher after a tow-day total of 155 (73-82). The players enjoyed the course and had fun competing in their division. Boys 11-13

Brady Bentley of Augusta, GA is the Boys 11-13 champion. After an 88 Saturday, Bentley closed with a final round of 86 to secure the victory with a two-day total of 174. Noah Ashmore of Braselton, GA came in second with a total of 181 (94-87). The boys showed maturity beyond their years in dealing with the course’s many challenges.
Girls 14-18

Rattika Sittigool of Thailand is the Girls 14-18 champion. Sittigool posted a 73 Saturday and followed that with an even improved 72 on Sunday for a two-day total of 145. Finishing in second was Madison Harwell of Evans, GA who posted rounds of 75 and 76 to score a total of 151. Bhenyapa Buranasiri finished in third place with a two-day total of 154 (77-77). The ladies each enjoyed their experience, with some intense competition in the final round on Sunday.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
