College Prep Series at Augusta, GA

Road to the Masters
On Saturday July 30-31st, 2016 the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Augusta, GA to host a College Prep Series at the stunning Forest Hills Golf Course. We had clear skies for the first tournament day with a scattered thunder storms in the afternoon. The HJGT would like to thank the Forest Hills Country Club staff for allowing us to host our tournament at their gorgeous venue. AJGA Performance Stars were up for grabs this weekend, the top three winners in each age division were awarded an exemption into the 2016 National Championship in Champions Gate, FL on December 3-4th, and the top ten finishers also received points towards year-end honors. Each player was fill with excitement and couldn’t wait to show their competitors what they had in stored.
Boys 16-18 Division
The boy’s 16-18 division had some tight competition this weekend. The first place winner was decided by a one hole play-off between Connor Moore and Patrick Jean-Pierre. Jean-Pierre emerged victorious in the play-off after paring the hole, while Moore shot a bogey. Both had impressive rounds shooting 73 on the first day of competition and 74 on the second day for a tournament total of 147 strokes. The third place finisher was Isaac Hergott of Martinez, GA. Hergott put together an impressive round on Sunday, shooting a 77 for a tournament total of 148 strokes.
Boys 14-15 Division
Tucker Meyer of Augusta, GA was the winner of the boys 14-15 division. Meyer had an impressive first day of competition shooting a 73 and leading his age group going into day two. Meyer struggled the second day finishing the round with a total of 81 strokes for a tournament total of 154. Despite his struggles on the second day Meyer still managed to secure the first place trophy. Finishing in second place was Owen Whitehead of Martinez, GA. Whitehead had two impressive days of competition. He finished the first day with a 79 and the second day with a 76 for a tournament total of 155, just missing first place by 1 stroke. Third place was claimed by Shyam Joshi from Dacula GA, with a total score of 157 strokes. Despite entering day two 10 stroke off the leader Joshi was able to rally and take home third place with a second day score of 76 strokes.
Girls 14-18 Division
Yuna Sato was the winner of the girls 14-18 division with a tournamnet total of 160 strokes. Sato shot a 81 in her first round and was in second place entering day two. Sato put together an impressive second round shooting a 79, a tournament low, and enough to secure the first place trophy. Second place finisher was Maddie Horinek of Lawrenceville, GA. Horinek shot consistently this tournament shooting a 82 each day for a tournament total of 164. In third place we had a tie between Brette Bryant of Augusta, GA and Charli York of Johns Creek, GA. Both received third place trophies after shooting a tournanment total of 167 strokes.
Boys 11-13 Division
David Hogg III of Augusta, GA was the winner of the boys 11-13 division shooting a tournament total of 163. He had a first day score of 85 and a second day score of 78.
Girls 13 & Under
Michelle Pi was the first place winner for the girls 13 & under division. Michelle had a tournament total of 213 strokes.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
