The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour based out of Jacksonville, FL will make a stop in Harrison, Tennessee. On November 16-17, Bear Trace at Harrison Bay will host the Chattanooga Jr. Shootout. The tournament is open to boy and girl golfers between the ages of 11-18. There’s a lot up for grabs at Bear Trace as well. Winners in boys 15-18, boys 11-14, and girls 15-18 will receive American Junior Golf Association Performance Stars to be used towards exemptions into AJGA events as long as field size requirements are met. In addition, winners in all divisions will receive an invite to the HJGT’s 2013 Tour Championship at Champions Gate in Florida. Top ten finishers will earn valuable points for end of the year honors, including the inaugural Hurricane Cup. Champions of each division will also receive $50 gift cards from Kikkor Golf. The format for this event is a 36 hole stroke play tournament held over two days, Saturday, November 16 and Sunday, November 17. Registration for the event will commence at 8:00AM on November 16. Both the first and second rounds will feature a single tee start from 9:00AM – 12:00PM. Registration for members is $179 and non-members can register for $199. For membership information please refer to our website (www.hjgt.org/basic-membership/). Referred to as "the best natural piece of land for a golf course," the Bear Trace at Harrison Bay features Bermuda fairways lined with soaring pine and hardwood trees. Although water touches 12 fairways, there is more than sufficient room to hit safely. Most greens are open in front, which makes the course more user-friendly for high-handicap players and allows run-up shots. Fairway and green side bunkers are designed in the traditional Nicklaus fashion and add notable character to the overall integrity of the course.
