Chateau Elan Summer Classic
(June 10-11, 2017)
On Thursday, June 9, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Braselton, GA to host the Chateau Elan Summer Classic. The Chateau Elan is not only known for being a beautiful resort, spa, winery, but it is also known for having amazing golf courses. This weekend the players were able to play on the Chateau course on clear and sunny days. The players enjoyed the course’s difficulty which made getting lower scores more gratifying! Overall, we had a great weekend and we couldn’t be happier with the results!
Michael Zachery of Alpharetta, GA is the Boys 16-18 champion. Zachery solidified the victory in his division carding a 74 Saturday and an impressive 69 Sunday for a two-day total of 143. Blake Kollin of Milton, GA (74-70) and Wesley Heston of Atlanta, GA (71-73) tied for second place with an overall score of 144. The players had a great time competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country. Boys 14-15
Lucas Hopkins of Thomson, GA is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Hopkins scored a 73 on both Saturday and Sunday to claim the title with a two-day total of 146. Graham Phillips of Albany, GA (77-73) and Brendan Farrell of Dunwoody, GA (74-76) tied for second place with a two-day total of 150. The boys enjoyed the beautiful course at Chateau Elan and posted low numbers on the second day. Boys 11-13
Andrew Kim of Alpharetta, GA is the Boys 11-13 champion. After a great round on Saturday scoring a 70, Kim closed strong with a final round of 71 to secure the victory finishing with a two-day total of 141. Billy Abdow of Duluth, Ga finished second with an overall score of 146 (72-74). Bringing home third place was Anish Reddy of Duluth, GA with a 73 on Saturday and a 76 on Sunday posting an overall score of 149. The boys had a fun time navigating through the course and showed maturity beyond their years in handling its many challenges. Girls 14-18
Thienna Huynh of Liburn, GA is the Girls 14-18 champion with a two-day total of 143. Huynh secured her victory after winning a two-hole playoff round against Carol Pyon of Macon, GA, who she was tied with after two rounds. Grace Jones of Hayesville, NC finished in third place with a two-day total of 151. The ladies each enjoyed their experience, with some intense competition in the final round on Sunday. Girls 13U
Brooke Gober of Gulf Shores, AL is the Girls 13 and under champion. Gober emerged victorious after posting a 79 on Saturday and an improved 76 on Sunday, finishing with a two-day total of 155. Coming in second was Hailey Han with a two-day total of 160 (76-84). Kelli Scheck of Greensboro, GA finished in third place with a two-day total of 165 (83-82). About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
