The Battle for Old Fort
This weekend the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour took on the Old Fort Golf Club in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The weather was hot and sunny as the golfers were able to fight through the heat and play fantastic golf throughout the weekend. Thank you to Old Fort Golf Club for allowing HJGT to host this event at their wonderful course. Five age divisions were in play as Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings were on the line. The winners in each division will receive an exemption into the 2016 Tour Championship on Dec. 3-4, 2016 and the top ten finishers in each division will receive points towards the Hurricane Cup. From to first tee shot to the final putt, the golfers put on a great display of golf throughout the weekend.
Boys 16-18 Division
Jack Uselton was the winner of the boys 16-18 division. He shot a 73 in the first round, followed by a 71 in the second, to finish off the weekend with a 144 overall. The Tullahoma, Tennessee, native came into the final round five strokes back of the lead and was able to fight his way back making three birdies in the final round. Harrison Lane out of Lexington, Kentucky, took home second after shooting a 68 on Saturday and a 78 on Sunday for a 146 overall. Matt Smith from Athens, Alabama, finished in third place with a 148 overall. Jack Uselton and Zach Young led the division with seven birdies each. Uselton also led the division with an impressive 15 hole bogeyless streak. The golfers had a great time competing against some of the best competition in the country.
Boys 14-15 Division
Jackson Elzinga from Franklin, Tennessee, was the winner of the boys 14-15 division. Elzinga shot a 72 on the first day and a 76 on the second to finish the tournament with a 148 overall. Joshua Holtschlag from Brentwood, Tennessee, finished in second place. He was just two strokes behind Elzinga with a 150 overall. Hayden Blair, a native of Tullahoma, Tennessee, finished in third place with a 155 for the tournament. Blair led the division in birdies with five over two rounds. Elzinga led the division with a total of 25 pars throughout the weekend. The golfers displayed a great amount of sportsmanship and competitiveness throughout the weekend.
Girls 14-18 Division
Faith Martin was the winner of the girls 14-18 division. The Rockfield, Kentucky, native shot a 75 in the first round and a 77 in the second to finish the tournament with a 152 overall. Sophie Linder from Carthage, Tennessee took second place after posting a 154 throughout the weekend. Elle Patterson out of Fort Payne, Alabama finished the tournament in third with a 156 overall. Elle Patterson had a 14 hole bogeyless streak and a total of 28 pars to lead the division in both categories. All of the golfers showed a great deal of competitiveness and sportsmanship throughout the weekend.
Boys 11-13 Division
Connor Brown was the champion of the boys 11-13 division. Brown is from Shelbyville, Tennessee. He shot back-to-back 75’s to finish the tournament with a 150 overall. Ethan Day, a Rocky Face, Georgia native finished in second place with a 155 for the tournament. Hagen Tyrone out of Franklin, Tennessee came in third place after finishing with a 176 overall. Ethan Day led the field with 24 pars for the tournament. Connor Brown averaged a 37.5 every nine holes to lead the division. The golfers had a great time competing against each other over the weekend.
Girls U13 Division
Sierra Fink was the champion of the girls U13 division. Fink, a Peachtree City native shot an 83 on the first day and a 79 on the second day to finish the tournament with a 162. Mikayla Dubnik from Hartselle, Alabama finished in second place and was just one stroke back of the lead. Dubnik finished with a division best five birdies. Fink had the most pars in the division with 21. The golfers had a great time competing against each other all weekend and showed a great deal of sportsmanship throughout.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
