Cape Cod Jr. Shootout August 1-2

On August 1st and 2nd, 2015, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to beautiful Cape Cod, Massachusetts to host the Cape Cod Junior Shootout at Hyannis Golf Club. The course was in good shape, playing conditions were great, and it was also a well-challenged tournament for the long weekend of golf. On Saturday, the first day of the tournament, there was lots of sunshine and a nice breeze to make the first day even more enjoyable. On Sunday, we were blessed to have some marvelous sunshine again, which was a great cap to the tournament. Winners in all four-age divisions will receive an automatic bid to the Tour Championship on December 5th and 6th, 2015. The weekend was unbeatable all around, and the top ten finishers also received points towards end year honors, which include state teams, all HJGT teams, and the Hurricane Cup.

Cape Cod B15-18 winner

In the Boys 15-18 division, the North Hampton, New Hampshire resident Ryan Quinn took home the first place trophy as he really expressed his talent on the putting green. Out putting his competition on almost every hole all weekend, Quinn ended the tournament just six strokes over par. Saturday was a great day of golf for Quinn as he ended the round in second place, and with a very impressive score of a 76, five strokes over par. On Sunday, Quinn made it interesting as he finished the second round shooting a 72, an even better round of golf. Playing phenomenal golf on Sunday, Quinn featured three birdies, which really helped him finish in the top spot. Quinn had a total of five birdies on the tournament. Finishing in second place was Matt McKenney from Chattanooga, Tennessee. McKenney was four strokes over par and tied for first place after Saturday, as he played great golf all throughout the round. Finishing the tournament just three strokes out of the first place spot, McKenney finished the first round with a great score of a 75. McKenney then ended the second round shooting a 76, a very impressive score, just five strokes over par. Displaying a very impressive four birdied holes this tournament, McKenney was very impressive off of the tee. Also going home with hardware, and finishing in tied for third place was George Mead from Wayland, Massachusetts, and Mike Pasqualini from Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Mead really opened some eyes this weekend, as he was very impressive in all three major aspects of the game. Mead shot his best score on the tournament, a 73 on Sunday which added to his good work on Saturday, as he shot a 79. Mead’s drives were unmatched, as he proceeded to birdie three holes this weekend. Pasqualini also played great golf this weekend as he shot a 75 on Saturday, and then came back on Sunday to shoot a 77. With three birdies this weekend, Pasqualini really brought some confidence with him to the course. Overall, the Boys 15-18 year-old division was very competitive this week, and all of the top finishers played very polished, and quality golf.

Cape Cod B13-14 winner

In the Boys 13-14 age division William Mirams from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania finished the tournament in the top spot. Mirams took the lead in the first round and it was good to see him play great golf under pressure and finish on top. Mirams played very competitive golf this tournament as he shot a great score of a 74 on the first round, and another great score, a 72 on the second round. Mirams featured a very strong game off of the tee this weekend, as he was unmatched off of the tee box on almost every hole. Mirams was in first place after the first round by one stroke, and then finished the second round with the best score, as he brought his same game with him to the course on the second day. To add to his impressive finish, Mirams featured five birdies this tournament, three in each round. Finishing right behind Mirams, and in second place was Robert You, from Nashua New Hampshire. You brought a lot of confidence with him from Nashua, as he has been a very strong, and competitive golfer inside of our Hurricane events. That being said, we were pleased to welcome him back onto our tour for the weekend tournament. You finished round one with a very impressive score of a 79, and in second place, and then took his talents, and his confidence into the second day as he finished Sunday with another good score, a 76. You also featured three birdies on the tournament, and his game off of the tee box was polished. Going home with the third place trophy was Kyle Puchol from Mashpee, Massachusetts. Putchol played great golf this weekend as he was great off of the teebox and had two birdies. Putchol shot a 78 in the first round, and then brought his talent with him to Sunday as he shot another great score, an 85. The Boys 13-14 division had a very exciting week, and every competitor in the field displayed two high quality rounds of golf.

Cape Cod G15-18 winner

Arguably one of the most impressive golfers this whole tournament was Jennifer Keim, from South Yarmouth, Massachusetts. Keim finished the tournament in first place in the Girls 15-18 division, and also had one of the most impressive scores of the entire tournament, even including the older boys division. Her Saturday score, a 77, was one of the lowest scores of the entire tournament, including every competitor. A score of a 77 coming from the South Yarmouth native, is something that makes our tour even more competitive. Keim had a great round of golf on Sunday as well as she shot a 78. Keim had a total of five birdies this tournament, which helped her finish in the top spot. Finishing behind Keim, and leaving the course with the second place trophy was Taylor Miano from Dobbs Ferry, New York. Miano played great golf this weekend as she competed in both rounds, shooting a 79 on Saturday, and another great score, and another 79 on Sunday. Miano really has a future in golf ahead of her as she showed great talent all throughout her game this tournament. Leaving the course in third place, was Alex Yarosh from East Yarmouth, Massachusetts. Yarosh finished the weekend just 27 strokes over par, displaying an 82 on the first round, and an 87 in the second round. Yarosh, another familiar face on the Hurricane Tour, was very impressive off the tee box all tournament, as her drives were powerful, and really turned some heads. Yarosh really took a competitive edge to the course this week and she didn’t fail to impress. Yarosh had par after par this week, and one birdie to add to help her take home some hardware.

Cape Cod B11-12

The Boys 11-12 year old division also brought lots of talent to our tournament this week. Tyler Zere from Ronkonkoma, New York took home the first place trophy as his drives were powerful and accurate all weekend long. As Zere is another familiar face on our tour, he featured one birdie this tournament as he shot a 98 on the first day, and an even better 94 on the second day. We will be excited to welcome Zere back onto our tour in the near future, as he never fails to bring great talent tour our tournament play. Finishing behind Zere, and Zere’s only competition this weekend was John Webster III, from Mashpee, Massachusetts. Webster is another very familiar face on our tour and it was great to see him back for this tournament as he always brings a competitive edge to our play that makes our tour even better. Featuring a 97 on the first round, and a 98 on the second round, Webster was great off of the tee box all weekend. Overall, the Boys 11-12 year old division really brought some talent this tournament and we were pleased to see two great rounds of golf coming from both competitors.   Weather: Saturday: Mid 80’s, Clear, Wind 5-10 MPH Sunday: Mid 80’s, Clear, Wind 0-5 MPH   Tournament Yardages: Boys 15-18- 6,200 YDS Girls 15-18/Boys 11-12- 5,507 YDS Boys 13-14- 6,092 YDS   About Us: The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment.
