Canton Junior Classic
(June 24 – 25, 2017)
On Thursday, June 22nd, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Canton, OH to put on the Canton Junior Classic hosted at Tam O’Shanter Golf Course. Our field was treated to a cloudless sky for the duration of the tournament. Cool, clear weather provided ideal conditions for competitors, and the scorecards reflected just that. AJGA stars were up for grabs this week for the top finishers in the Girls 14 – 18 division and Boys aged 14 – 18. All in all, Canton provided a spectacular weekend for golf, and an even more remarkable stop for the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour.
Owen Malcolm is the Boys 16-18 champion. The Atlanta, GA native took home the division by keeping his cool during golf’s most exciting finish, a playoff. Our division champion posted a 74 on Saturday and a 71 on Sunday for a two-day total of 145 in route to a victory. After a hard fought playoff, Hunter Foltz of Van Buren, OH took home the second place trophy with a two-day total of 145 (73-72). Logan Reynolds of Clarksville, TN posted a two-day total of 147 (74-73) for third place honors. The field, spectators, and staff were excited to see such a fantastic finish by this division full of talented competitors. Boys 14-15
Andrew Kaye is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. At the end of 36 holes, the Avon Lake, OH native sat decisively at 154 (78-76), edging out the competition for the victory. Colton Levey of Twinsburg, OH took home the second place trophy after finishing with a two-day total of 155 (75-80). Third place was taken home by Aditya Achar of Concord, OH (79-77) and Josh Wright (78-78) who both posted a two-day score of 156. This group of talented golfers provided a very tightly contested division that truly came down to the wire. Girls 14-18
Casey Morrow of Mars, PA is the Girls 14-18 champion. Lees paired a 75 Saturday with a 76 Sunday for a two-day total of 151 to edge out the competition and take the Girls 14-18 division. Finishing in second from Canton, OH was Madison Ardelean who posted rounds of 81 and 73 for a two-day total of 154. After both posting 79 on Saturday and 80 on Sunday, Abby Zambruno of Mount Pleasant, PA and Makenna Brown of Powell, OH each took home third place honors with a two-day total of 159. The ladies enjoyed their experience, with some intense competition down the stretch. Girls 13U
Gianna Clemente is the girls under 13 champion. Clemente, of Warren, OH, posted a two-day score of 163 (81-82) to become champion of our girls under 13 division at Tam O’Shanter Golf Course. Clemente showed some exceptional play over the course of the weekend, showcasing her smooth swing and remarkable talent on and around the green. The field was particularly excited to see such lively play from one of golf’s future leaders.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
