Canongate Series #4

(May 27-29, 2017)

On Thursday, May 27 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Atlanta GA to host the Canongate Series #4 at the beautiful Canongate Golf Club. The players battled through a beautiful first two days of golf, but the third day brought inclement weather that made the course very wet. There was about an hour delay halfway through the round, but following the delay, players continued to play excellent golf! There was quite a bit at stake during this tournament for the top 3 finishers of each division. The top 3 finishers in each division would receive exemption for the 2017 National Championships on December 2-3, 2017 along with qualifying for the Mid-Season Invitational at Sea Island Plantation on June 11-13. The top ten finishers also were rewarded points towards end of the year honors, which include state teams, ALL HJGT teams, and the Hurricane Cup.

Kason Partridge, out of Hamilton, Ga was extremely consistent throughout all 3 rounds of golf shooting 74, 74, 73 for a 221 total. Kason was able to rattle off three straight birdies on the front nine on Monday to help solidified his victory. Rece Moore came in second place scoring a 222 total, just one stroke behind Kason. It was an excellent battle right up until the end.        Boys 14-15

Our winner for the Boys 14-15 division shot very well for the last day of the event. Luke Phillips, out of Peachtree City, GA went -2 for the third day. Luke really had control of his division the entire weekend. Luke went 71, 76, 70 for a 217 total for the three days. Luke’s five birdies on day three put the title out of reach for anyone else. Coming in second was Nicholas Gibson out of Duluth, GA shooting a 72, 71, 76 for a total of 219.       Boys 11-13

Jake had a total of seven birdies for the entire event shooting a very impressive 70 for the first day without a single bogey on his scorecard. The second place finisher was Annish Reddy, out Duluth, GA. Annish had an awesome last day shooting -3, but it just wasn't quite enough to pass Jake for first.       Girls 14-18

Woo did not have any birdies on the first day, and only had one on the second, but she was very consistent with pars, and that was just enough to hold off second place finisher, Megan Tang.
