Canongate Golf Club-Lee – Sharpsburg, Georgia

On, February 25th and 26th 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour continued its spring season at the popular Canongate Golf Club. Both the weather and course were beautiful throughout the weekend. Players took advantage of these great conditions by entertaining spectators with two impressive rounds of golf. Winners in all six age divisions will receive an invitation to the Tour Championship later on this year and the top ten finishers also received points towards the end of the year Hurricane Cup and HJGT teams. Boys 16-18 Division

In the Boys 16-18 Division, David Frank from Dunwoody, Georgia, took home first place and entertained spectators with consistent golf throughout the weekend. He captured the title with a two-day total of 150. His impressive rounds of 77 and 73 put him ahead of his competitors in a tight field. On Saturday David had thirteen pars, and on Sunday he clinched the victory with eleven pars and three birdies. Finishing second place was Chad Deegan, from Dunwoody, Georgia. He shot a 79 on Saturday and a 72 on Sunday for a total score of 151. Also earning a trophy and finishing in third place from Rome, Georgia was Cooper Greer. Cooper showcased his talent by shooting a two-day total of 152. Overall, the Boys 16-18 Division was competitive this weekend and the top finishers played great golf. Boys 14-15 Division

In the Boys 14-15 Division, Luke Phillips from Peachtree City, Georgia, finished in first place. After being tied for first through Saturday, Luke claimed the title by shooting an eagle and six birdies on Sunday. Luke shot a 76 in the first round and an impressive 68 in the second round for a two-day total of 144. Landon Wockenfuss, from Alabaster, Alabama, finished in second place. He shot a two-day total of 152. Jack Hudson, from Roswell, Georgia, had a strong tournament as well, claiming third place. Jack shot a two-day total of 153. The Boys 14-15 Division had an exciting week, and every competitor in the field displayed two high-quality rounds of golf. Boys 11-13 Division

The Boys 11-13 Division has some promising talent. Connor Macmillan from Canton, Georgia, took home first place this weekend. He won with a determined mindset and was able to put together a great tournament, scoring a total of 148. Shooting a 75 on Saturday and a 73 on Sunday, Connor finished the weekend with seven birdies and twenty-two pars. Coming in second place was Andrew Garger from Sharpsburg, Georgia. Andrew shot a 77 on Saturday and improved with a 73 on Sunday, finishing with a score of 150 for the tournament. In third place from Johns Creek, Georgia, was Deven Patel. Deven posted a 77 in the first round and a 75 in the second round, finishing with a total score of 152. Overall, the Boys 11-13 Division brought their talent to the tournament and we were pleased to see great rounds of golf. Boys 10 and Under

The Boys 10 and Under champion was Griffin Barke, from Louisville, Kentucky. Griffin claimed first place with a two-day total of 176. He shot a solid 89 in the first round and an 87 in the second round to take home the victory. Griffin played well, shooting a birdie and thirteen pars throughout the weekend. He earned his trophy by playing great golf throughout the tournament. Girls 14-18 Division

The Girls 14-18 Division was competitive this weekend. Coming in first with a two-day total of 145 was Ivy Shepherd from Peachtree City, Georgia. She posted an outstanding 70 in her first round, which included three birdies. She clinched the title with a solid 75 in the second round. Coming in second place from Alpharetta, Georgia, was Alejandra Ayala. She had a two-day total of 153. In third place from Lake Mary, Florida, was Brigitte Clements. Her two-day total was a solid 159. The Girls 14-18 Division once again proved to be one of the tightest groups this weekend. Girls 13 and Under Division

The Girls 13 and Under Division was a close race. Liza Lapeyre from New Orleans, Louisiana, took home first place. She fired an 88 and 81 for a two-day total of 169. Liza was very consistent off the tee and was able to make some great ups and downs to make three birdies and 12 pars. Coming in second place from Montgomery, Alabama, was Virginia Anne Holmes. She had a two-day total of 172. In third place from Atlanta, Georgia, was Reagan Southerland. Reagan scored a 93 on Saturday and an 81 on Sunday. She secured the third-place trophy by playing consistent golf and staying focused throughout the tournament. The Girls 13 and Under Division has a lot of potential and we are excited to see them again this spring.
