Brooks Brothers Open at Old Hickory
(June 17-18, 2017)
On Thursday, June 15, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Woodbridge, VA to host the Brooks Brothers Open at Old Hickory. The players battled through Virginia’s summer humidity and heat on both days with the sun shining with blue skies. Despite the humidity the players had a very successful and fun weekend of golf at Old Hickory Boys 16-18
TJ Repczynski of Fairfax Station, VA is the Boys 16-18 champion. Repczynski steadily captured the victory in his division bringing in a 75 on Saturday and a 77 on Sunday for a two-day total of 152. Justin Shim of Reston, VA finished in 2nd with a two-day total of 157 (79-78). 3rd place went to Justin Griffith of Allison Park, PA who carded a two-day total of 158. The players had great attitude and sportsmanship finishing the Brooks Brothers Open this weekend. Boys 14-15
Caleb Taylor of Woodbine, MD is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Taylor solidified this weekend’s winning position by posting a first round a round of 82 on Saturday and 75 on Sunday for a 157 two-day total to earn the title. Jimmy Taylor of Alexandria, VA came in a 2nd after finishing with a two-day total of 163 (84-79). There was a tie for 3rd place between Mason Jones of Burke, VA and Aiden Baron of Leesburg, VA both carding a two-day total of 164. This division showed great effort and respect during the two rounds of golf this weekend. Boys 11-13
For this division we had a playoff for 1st place between Suneil Peruvemba of Mclean, VA (72-78) and Jack Pogorelc of Bethesda, MD (78-72) after finishing both rounds . The play-off resulted in a close match with Suneil Peruvemba emerging as the Boys 11-13 champion. Tied for third place was both Aryan Vuradi of Brampleton, VA (82-74) and Corey Minkoff of Gaithersburg, MD (77-79) for a two-day total 156. This division was very close and brought a lot of excitement to the fans watching. Girls 14-18
Lauren Artis of Upper Marlboro, MD is the Girls 14-18 champion bringing in a two-day total 167 (84-83). Artis showed the consistency was key in order to take home first place. Finishing in 2nd from Chantilly, VA was Segal Sankaran who posted rounds of 84 and 88 to finish with a total of 172. Alexandra Cardi of Delaware, OH finished in 3rd place with a two-day total of 174 (88-86). These ladies showed grace and class conquering Old Hickory. Girls 13U
Victoria Matthews is the Girls 13 and under champion. The native of Greatfalls, VA emerged victorious after posting a two-day total of 161 (79-82). Finishing 2nd with a two-day total of 177 was Mel Walker of Berk, VA. The girls displayed solid effort and attitude while getting through the thick humidity along with the difficult course layout.
Jeremiah Smith, of Bristow, VA took home the 1st place title for the Boys 10U division. Smith carded an impressive 93-101 for a two-day total of 194. Smith did an incredible job with tremendous fortitude. The HJGT staff can all say they were very proud to have this champion in our tournament.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
