Brooks Brothers Open at Champions Run
(June 17-18)
This weekend the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Champions Run in Rockvale, Tennessee for a great weekend of golf. Being Father’s Day weekend we would like to wish a happy Father’s Day to all. This week’s tournament brought players in from coast to coast ranging from the sunshine state of Florida all the way out to the west coast of California. We had great weather up until thunderstorms hit Sunday afternoon but we got every player through nine holes and shortened the event to 27 holes. Each of our winners will receive an invitation to our Tour Championship at the end of the year, and the players finishing in the top ten for each age division will also get points toward the Hurricane Cup. Boys 16-18

Starting off the event was the Boys 16-18 age division which consisted of a great field of players. Our first-place golfer for the Brooks Brothers Open was Buchanan Miller of St. Simons Island, Georgia who had rounds of 78-39 and an overall of 117. He would squeeze by his competition and take first by one stroke beating out our second-place golfer William Levinson of Ponte Vedra, Florida who had rounds of 78-40 and an overall of 118. Going into the final round tied, Buchanan would buckle down after getting out to a great 2 under start. Buchanan would go into the weather delay with a one stroke lead and upon the cancellation of the event he would end of the tournament with a one stroke victory. In third place, we had Will Hacker of Lexington, Kentucky who wasn’t far behind the leaders with rounds of 81-40 and an overall of 121. These boys all did an excellent job conquering a difficult course. Boys 14-15

The second group to round out this tournament was the Boys 14-15 division which had all Tennessee locals. Our winner of the division was Colin Alexander of Brentwood, Tennessee who had rounds of 76-41 and an overall of 117. Colin would overcome injuries from a previous tournament and in his first tournament back in action take home first place. Finishing in second place was Joe Carter of Chattanooga, Tennessee who only trailed Colin by a few shots and finished with rounds of 80-41 and an overall of 121. Taking home the third-place prize was J.D. Jordan of Hendersonville, Tennessee with rounds of 84-47 and an overall of 131. Girls 14-18

Just beating out the storms was the Girls 14-18 division which was a real nail bitter. Coming down to a scorecard playoff our first-place winner with rounds of 75-38 and an overall of 113 was Ali McCarthy of Gallatin, Tennessee. Finishing in second place because she scored one stroke higher on the final round than our champion was McKinley Cunningham of Clarksville, Tennessee with rounds of 74-39 and an overall of 113. Unfortunately, weather cut the tournament short and we could not see this tight finish unravel on the course. Rounding out the top three was Jacque Crossland of Manchester, Tennessee who fell short of our leaders just by a few strokes recording rounds of 77-40 and an overall score of 117. All around it was a great Father’s Day weekend full of amazing golf.
