Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month

 2nd Year In a Row

Jacksonville, FL: The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) is excited to announce its 2nd annual campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, “Drive out Breast Cancer.” The HJGT is a junior golf tour that gives junior golfers from the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play competitive golf throughout the country. We operate in 29 states currently and over 10,000 juniors participated in our events last year. We were the first junior golf tour to get involved with Breast Cancer Awareness. The HJGT is working with the Susan G. Komen foundation and with Rally for the Cure to focus on raising Breast Cancer awareness. The HJGT is one of the largest intern based organizations in the country.  On average we have 40 students, three times a year intern with us from all around the country. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, we hope to raise over $1,000 and donate it to the Susan G. Komen foundation. In addition to the $1,000, if a player gets a birdie in a pink flag hole, we will donate an extra dollar. HJGT will adjust its normal format for the month and have the older girls tee off right after the older boys. We want to pay special attention to our girls this month and raise funds and awareness at all of the 14 events that we will run during the month of October. We will work in conjunction with all of the individual local affiliates in each one of cities that we will be conducting tournaments. HJGT Executive Director Mario Conte states, "The Hurricane Tours is excited to partake in such a special cause that is near and dear to all of our hearts. I have personally been impacted by this disease as my mother is a breast cancer survivor, so I am passionate about donating to this cause and helping to bring more awareness about breast cancer. Come join us in October at HJGT events and show your pride and wear pink on Saturday and Sunday. All the proceeds from birdies on pink flag holes, Hurricane Tour Shop pink sales will benefit the Susan Komen foundation." Upcoming events in the month of October include and Local Susan G.   In 1980, Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became the Susan G. Komen® organization and the beginning of a global movement. What was started with $200 and a shoebox full of potential donor names has now grown into the world’s largest nonprofit source of funding for the fight against breast cancer. To date, we’ve invested more than $2.5 billion in groundbreaking research, community health outreach, advocacy and programs in more than 30 countries. And we won’t stop until our promise is fulfilled.   Follow us on
