  This weekend the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour took the road to Hilton Head Island, SC to host the Bluffton Junior Open at the Dolphin Head Golf Club. Sunshine and clear skies with winds up to 20 mph and temperatures mid to high 80’s accompanied the tournament this weekend. The HJGT would like to thank the Dolphin Head Golf Course the for letting us host at such a exquisite course. There was quite a bit at stake during this tournament for the top 3 finishers of each division. One was that the top 3 of each division would get exemption into 2017 National Championships which take place December 2-3, 2017. The next was that the top 3 would also get exemption into the Mid-Season Invitational at Sea Island Plantation June 11-13, 2017. The top ten finishers also were rewarded points towards end of the year honors, which include state teams, ALL HJGT teams, the Hurricane Cup, South Carolina Junior Golf Association Heritage Points, and Tarheel Youth Golf Association Points.   Boys 16-18 Division

Jonathan Griz of Hilton Head Island, SC was the Boys 16-18 Division Champion. Jonathan snagged the championship after an impressive first round shooting a 71 then turning around and shooting a 73 the second round. His overall total that weekend was a stellar 144. Nelson Ou of Foshan, China finished second after an impressive round one score of 71 as well, then turning around and posting a 75 for the second. Nelson’s overall total was a 146. Connor Moore of Bluffton, SC finished third after having an impressive round as well with a 72. Connor shot a 75 during the second round making his overall total of 147.     Boys 14-15 Division

Jack Hughes of Snowmass Village, CO was the Boys 14-15 Division Champion. Jack shot a 75 for the first round and then turned around and got a 76 the second round. His overall total was a 151 for the weekend. Caden Edwards of Hilton Head Island, SC finished second after a first-round score of 77 and 76 for the second round. His overall total for the weekend was a score of 153. AJ Gilpin of Norwell, MA and Dan Bryne of Cork tied for third after both finishing with an overall total of 155.     Boys 11-13 Division

William Jennings of Greenville, SC was the Boys 11-13 Division Champion. William’s score for the first round, 75, was then accompanied by his second-round score of 80. His overall total this weekend was 155. Charlie Miller of Savannah, GA finished second this weekend. Charlie scored an 80 the first round then turned around and shot a 79. His overall total was a 159. Will Jones of Alpharetta, GA finished third after being able to get a 81 score for the first round then turning around and posting an 80 the second. His overall total this weekend was a 161.       Boys 10U Division

Andy Cruz of Duluth, GA was the Boys 10U  Division Champion. Andy was able to claim the first place trophy after shooting a 91 for first round then turning around 97. His overall total was 188 for the weekend. Christian Haskin of Johns Island, SC finished second after a first-round score of 102 and a second-round score of 108. Christian’s overall total was 210 for the weekend. We would like to thank all players for participating!         Girls 14-18 Division

Vivian Yen of Taipei was the Girls 14-18 Division Champion. Vivian’s first round score of 76 threw her in first after the first round and her second score of 78 was enough to keep her in first. Her overall total this weekend was 154. Savannah Hylton of Hilton Head, SC finished second after she shot an overall total of 161 this weekend. Lexi Clark of Fairfax Station, VA finished third for this weekend after getting an overall score of 162. We look forward to see these talented girls compete again!

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon. In 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus. Nexus is an international hospitality and entertainment company with the backing of financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group. They also have the backing of golfing great Tiger Woods, along with musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake.
