The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour based out of Jacksonville, FL makes its second trip to the state of Alabama and it’s first to the Birmingham area on July 1-2. The Birmingham Junior Open will be hosted by the gorgeous Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, Alabama. The tournament is open to both boy and girl golfers between the ages of 11-18. There’s a lot up for grabs in Oneonta as well. Winners in boys 15-18, boys 11-14, and girls 15-18 will receive American Junior Golf Association Performance Stars to be used towards exemptions into AJGA events as long as field size requirements are met. In addition, winners in all divisions will receive an invite to the HJGT’s 2013 Tour Championship at Champions Gate in Florida. Top ten finishers will earn valuable points for end of the year honors, including the inaugural Hurricane Cup. Champions of each division will also receive $50 gift cards from Kikkor Golf. The format for the event is a 36 hole stroke play tournament held over two days, Monday, July 1 and Tuesday, July 2. Registration for the event will commence at 6:30AM on July 1. Both the first and second rounds will feature a single tee start from 7:30AM–10:30AM. The registration fee is $179. The field size is increasing as we get closer to the event date, promising to be a great tournament at an amazing venue. All players who register will receive a free dozen Bridgestone B330 golf balls. Limestone Springs Golf Club has been rated four and a half stars by Golf Digest’s Places to Play. The aesthetics of the course are certainly pleasing to the eye as the course sits on 225 acres of the Appalachian Mountains and offers players some of the most dramatic elevations and picturesque views in the state. Designed by US Open winner Jerry Pate, this course stretches over 7,000 yards and will provide players with quite the challenge.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of four age divisions: Boys 15-18, Boys 11-14, Girls 11-14 and Girls 15-18. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, and Ohio.
