Bartram Trail Junior Classic

  This weekend the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour took the road to Evans, GA to host the Bartram Trail Junior Classic at the Bartram Trail Golf Club. Sunshine, clear skies and temperatures ranging from low to mid 70’s accompanied the tournament this weekend. The HJGT would like to thank the Bartram Trail Golf Club the for letting us host at such an exquisite course. There was quite a bit at stake during this tournament for the top 3 finishers of each division. One was that the top 3 of each division would get exemption into 2017 National Championships which take place December 2-3, 2017. The next was that the top 3 would also get exemption into the Mid-Season Invitational at Sea Island Plantation June 11-13, 2017. The top ten finishers also were rewarded points towards end of the year honors, which include state teams, ALL HJGT teams, the Hurricane Cup, and South Carolina Junior Golf Association Heritage Points.   Boys 16-18  


Andrew Chong of Grovetown, GA was the boys 16-18 champion. Andrew was able to snag the championship after a playoff victory. He was able to stick it close on hole one during the shootout and made birdie for the win. His first-round score of 72 then turning around and scoring a 75 for the second round. His overall score was 147. Augustin Errazuirz of Chile finished in second after the playoff. Agustin’s first round score was a 74 then his second was a 73. There was a three way tie with all three players finishing with a total score of 148. Aiden McCloskey of Northboro, MA, Brent Hamm of Warner Robins, GA, and Sam Shostek of Myrtle Beach, SC all were the third place finishers.   

 Boys 14-15



Myles Jones of Suwanee, GA was the Boys 14-15 champion. Myles finished first after a solid first round score of 73. He then turned around and accompanied that score with a 75. His overall total was a 148. Angel E Guerra of North Myrtle Beach, SC finished second after finishing the first round with a 74 and the second round with a 79. He finished the weekend with an overall score of 153. Price Hollingsworth of Canton, GA finished third after shooting 82 the first day then turning around and scoring 72.   


Boys 11-13  


Billy Abdow of Duluth, GA was the Boys 11-13 champion. Billy finished with a first-round score of 76 and his second-round score of 74. His overall total this weekend 150. Jake Peacock of Milton, GA finished second after finishing the first round with a 75 and the second round 77. He finished the weekend with a 152 total. Lucas Jinglov finished third after finishing the weekend with an overall total of 162.   


 Girls 14-18



Vivian Yen of Taipei was the Girls 14-18 champion. She finished first after finishing the first round with a 77 and the second round with a 79. Sydney Abruzzino of Myrtle Beach, SC finished second this weekend. Her first round score was a 78 and second round was an 80. Kelly Strickland of Alpheretta, GA finished third after finishing the weekend with a score of 161.

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world. The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
