The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) heads north the first week in August to hold the Forest Hills Junior Open. This event will take place at the Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia on the 4th and 5th of August. As always, there will be much at stake during this multi-day tournament. Winners in each division receive automatic bids into the 2012 Tour Championship, the event will be ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard, and players also have the opportunity to earn South Carolina Junior Golf Heritage Points. This great city, an amazing venue, and the number of items at stake, should make for some exciting and dramatic competition throughout the tournament. The Forest Hills Junior Open will take place over a period of two days. On each day participants will play eighteen (18) holes of golf. The tournament will be played in the stroke play format and there will be four different divisions of competition. The divisions will be broken down by ages and are as follows: Boys 15-18, Girls 15-18, Boys 11-14, and Girls 11-14. The venue for the Forest Hills Jr. Open is nothing short of spectacular. The Forest Hills Golf Course is home to the Augusta State University golf team, who were back-to-back NCAA Division 1 National Champions in 2010 and 2011, and the course is just as exceptional as the team that calls it home. The course was originally designed by the renowned Donald Ross and then redesigned by the team at the Arnold Palmer Company in 2004. In addition to this already strong resume, Forest Hills Golf Club has a very storied past. Bobby Jones began his 1930 Grand Slam at the Southeastern Open that took place at Forest Hills. Also, the course has been host to numerous college events with big-name participants like Mickelson and Love III. Participants in the Forest Lake Junior Open will be playing the same holes and making the same shots as some of the best to ever play the game. The course has many teeing locations with the longest playing at 6,875 yards to ensure challenges to every caliber of player. Forest Hills Golf Club will be in excellent condition and will be a perfect venue for some of the best young golfers from across the southeast to compete.
