For the month of April, the Boys 15-18 Player of the Month is Gonzalo Martinez of Longs, South Carolina. Martinez participated in a total of three events in the month of April. Martinez shot impressive rounds at the IMG CC Junior Classic carding a two-day total of 140 (-4). At the conclusion of round one, Martinez only lead by one shot. However, on Sunday he stretched the gap by recording a 33 (-3) on the front nine and coasted from there to record the victory. Consequently, Gonzalo received national recognition by winning the IMG CC Junior Classic that was ranked by Golfweek, as well as received an AJGA exemption. Martinez also finished second at the HJGT’s second Major Championship of the season, which took place at Jekyll Island Golf Course. He finished there with a weekend total of 143 (-1). Congratulations to Gonzalo Martinez for being April’s Bobby Grace Player of the Month. In the Girls 15-18 Division, JiaXin Yang of Lake Mary, FL took home the Player of the Month Award. Yang shot an outstanding 67, 69 for a two-day total of 136 (-6). Yang dominated the par 4’s of the Reserve Course averaging 3.82, recording 5 birdies on the par 4’s alone. Yang’s consistent play is what separated her from the rest of the field, recording only two bogies throughout the weekend. Receiving an AJGA exemption for her great performance, Yang undoubtedly deserves the April Bobby Grace Player of the Month Award. The Boys 11-14 Division Player of the Month goes to Caleb Proveaux of Leesville, SC. This young man dominated his field at the Upstate Junior Classic at Cobb’s Glen Country Club. Proveaux’s first round was highlighted with six birdies along with an eagle resulting in a remarkable six under, 66. Proveaux finished the weekend with a stroke total of 140 (-4) and won by a margin of six shots. Caleb dominated nearly every category including: Most Eagles (1), Most Pars or Better (83.3%), Most Birdies (9), Par 3 Average (2.88), and Par 5 Performance (4.00). Needless to say, Caleb Proveaux is this month’s Bobby Grace Player of the Month. In the Girls 11-14 Division, Hannah Berman is April’s Player of the Month recipient. This Jacksonville, FL native placed first in the Major Championship at Jekyll Island during the weekend of April 14-15. Berman recorded a respectable 75 on Saturday, followed by a 76 on Sunday for a weekend total of 151 (+7). Not surprisingly, Burman ranked highest in most of the statistical categories; including Most Birdies (6), Par 4 Performance (4.35), Most Pars or Better (72.2%) and Par 5 Peformance (4.88). Congratulations Hannah Berman for winning a Major Championship and taking home this month’s Bobby Grace Putters Player of the Month.
