Players of all divisions were struggling with the cold and wind, but scores were close in the Boys 15-18 division from the beginning on Saturday. Hh Zhang of China was not the first round leader; he finished his first 18 holes with a score of 77. He was behind the overall second place finisher, Kevin Burns of Canton, GA by 6 strokes. With a strong second round on Sunday, firing 5 birdies and finishing four under par with a 68, he paved the way for his first place finish by one stroke with a two round total of 145. Zhang was also the Boys 15-18 leader in most birdies on the weekend with 8 in total. Burns had the lead after the first round with a 71 on Saturday where it was cold and very windy. The next lowest score was a 75 after the first round. Burns also had an impressive weekend. His second round score was a 75, for a two-day total of 146. Burns may not have clinched the title this time, but he was still able to finish on top with a bogey free streak of 18. The third place finisher of this division was Chun Hsiang Hsu of Taiwan. Hsu was only four strokes off the lead after the completion of the weekend with a two-day total of 149. With a 75 on Saturday and a 74 on Sunday, Hsu was a contender for the first place finish after the round on Saturday. He finished the second round with two birdies and only had 7 bogeys throughout the weekend; an impressive feat considering the conditions.   Girls 15-18

In the Girls 15-18 division, Hannah Haythorne of Bradenton, FL decided she was not going to let the cold and the wind get to her on Saturday and finished with a 75. Haythorne then came out swinging even better on the second day of the tournament to finish with a very remarkable round of two under par, a total of 70; giving her a weekend total of 145. Haythorne also finished with the most birdies on the weekend with 7 and the best birdie or better streak with 3. Coming in second for the older girls was Stephanie Liu of St. Simons Island, GA. Liu was the only other girl in this division besides Haythorne to finish the round in the 70’s with a 76. The wind and frostiness obviously didn’t affect Liu either, and it actually warranted her a better round than when the weather was warmer on Sunday. Her finish on Sunday was with a score of 83, giving her a complete round total of 159. Though overall Liu did not beat Haythorne, she did take the win on the weekend total for most pars made with a staggering total of 25. Rounding out the Girls 15-18 division with the third place finish was Gabriela Victoria of Bradenton, FL. Victoria finished with an 83 on Saturday and an 80 on Sunday, giving her a 163 total. At the end of the first round, Dragon Theam of Jacksonville, FL was four strokes behind the lead after posting an opening round of 80. Theam fired 5 birdies during his Sunday round, and did not have a bogey on the day until the very last hole. His birdie total on the weekend was 8 and had a bogey free streak of 17 holes; an impressive round for anyone, but especially so for someone who is only 14 years old. The leader after the first round was Hector Barnetche of Bradenton, FL with a 76. Barnetche finished with a 74 on Sunday for a weekend total of 150, only two strokes away from clenching the title. However, Barnetche did finish with the most pars on the weekend with a total of 26 and the most pars or better streak with 29. Closing this division out with the third place finish was Davis Lee of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Lee closed his first round with a 79 and his second round with a 73, for a two-day total of 152. Coming in with a tie of only two strokes behind the lead were Faith Scott of Columbus, GA and Keagan Dunn of Buford, GA. Scott posted an 88 and an 86 while Keagan posted a 90 and an 84. Both girls played hard and were able to complete their rounds side by side. Dunn had the most birdies on the weekend with two and Scott had one. Though Scott may have been one birdie short of Dunn, she was able to take the cake and shock everyone with a hole in one on number 17 to complete her round on Sunday and give her the ability to finish in a tie for second!
