The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour will be returning to Amelia Island March 16-17 for the Amelia Island Junior Challenge. The event will be held at Amelia Island Plantation-Oak Marsh Course. There will be much at stake for this competitive event including AJGA performance stars. The winner of both the boy’s and girl’s 15-18 age divisions will take home four performance stars. These stars will provide one exemption for an AJGA event. Winners of both the boy’s and girl’s 15-18 division will also receive an exemption for a Florida Junior Tour event. Finally, all winners will receive an automatic invitation to the 2013 tour championship and top ten finishers will receive points towards the inaugural Hurricane Cup and All-HJGT teams. The event, as with all of our events will be ranked by the Junior Golf Scoreboard. The event will consist of two days of 18-hole stroke play. Both days will feature a double tee start with golfers going off the 1st and 10th tee and tee times running from 8:00-10:00 am. The event will feature four age divisions: boy’s and girl’s 15-18 and boy’s and girl’s 11-14. In each division the top three finishers as well as the player with the most birdies, and the player who improved most from day one to day two will receive awards. The awards ceremony will take place at approximately 3:00 pm on day two. Registration for members is $179 and the non-member fee is $199. For membership information please refer to our website, www.hjgt.org. Oak Marsh was designed by Pete Dye and was built in 1972. The course was recently renovated, but is still known for its tight fairways and small greens. The course also features 14 holes with water hazards. Finally the course has coquina shell cart paths and an abundance of native plant life which makes this course truly a pleasure to play.
