Sussex County, New Jersey: May 26, 2014- The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour visited Sussex County, New Jersey May 24-26 for the 54-hole challenge at Crystal Springs. The boys and girls ages 15-18 and boys 11-14, competed for Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings. The top ten finishers earned points toward year end honors which include state teams, all HJGT teams, and the Hurricane Cup. Winners in each division also received an automatic bid into the 2014 Tour Championship and Mid-Season Invitational.
Boys 15-18 Kwanwoo Kim came back from five shots down after two rounds, and finished with a final round 70 to win the boys 15-18 year old age division. Kim shot 78 in the first round and 79 in round two but ended strong in the third and final round to finish with a three day total of 227. Kim birdied two of the first five holes on Monday and was in control throughout the round. 36-hole leader Leonard Lee struggled with a 40 on the front nine and despite three consecutive birdies on the back nine, Lee finished second.
Girls 15-18 In the girls 15-18 division Gabriella Kim fired a second round 77 and finished with a three day total of 242 to take home the victory. Kim shot a final round of 82 and won by four shots over Esther Park. Park struggled during the final round, finishing with a final round of 86. Another four shots behind Park was Carolyn Wang who had a three day total of 250. Wang shot 80 in the final round, the best of the day in her division. With her victory, Kim earned 4 AJGA stars.
Boys 11-14 In the 11-14 year old boys division, Stephen Sul took home the victory with a three day total of 230. Sul shot a second round score of 73, and closed with a final round 78 to win by two shots over Chris Lee. Lee shot a final round 80, to finish with a three day total of 232. Finishing third in the younger boys division was John Driscoll III, who shot a final round 75 to finish with a three day total of 239.
Girls 11-14 In the 11-14 girls division Tiya Chowdary finished with a three day total of 262. Chowdary shot 84 in round one, followed by a second round score of 93, and finished with a third round score of 85.
