2nd Annual Stars and Stripes Jr. Classic
(July 1-2, 2017)
On Saturday, July 1, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Myrtle Beach to host the 2nd Annual Stars and Stripes Jr. Classic at the World Tour golf course. The golfers fought through a windy Saturday to find sun and lower scores on Sunday. Overall, the players had a great weekend competing not only on a regional level, but also against top international players.
Gage Smith of LaFayette, Ga is the Boys 16-18 champion. Smith posted a 70 on Saturday and a 71 on Sunday to finish with a two-day total of 141. He beat out Willis Rogers of Charleston, SC for the win. Rogers posted an overall low of 70 finished with a total of 146. Jackson Cole of Pawleys Island, SC tied with Cade Hancock of Elizabethtown, NC for third. Cole posted a 73 on Saturday and a 76 on Sunday and Hancock shot a 74 and 75. The players had a great time competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country, and most golfers were able to improve on the second day. Boys 14-15
Channing Blevins of Wytheville, VA is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Blevins posted a 78 on Saturday and an 76 on Sunday for a 154 two-day total to claim the title. Drew Cates of Evansville, IN came in second after finishing with a two-day total of 157 (80-77). Hinson Perry of Rock Hill, SC was the third place finisher after a tow-day total of 158 (80-78). The players enjoyed the course and had fun competing in their division. Boys 11-13
Evan Prickett of North Augusta, SC is the Boys 11-13 champion. After an 87 Saturday, Prickett closed strong with a final round of 77 to secure the victory with a two-day total of 164. Tristen McKay of Florence, SC came in second with a total of 165 (83-82). Eugene Kang of Seongnam-Shi, South Korea finished in third place with a total of 175 (85-90). The boys showed maturity in dealing with the course’s many challenges. Girls 14-18
Abbey Schimpf from Daniel Island, South Carolina is the Girls 14-18 champion. Schimpf posted a 78 Saturday and followed that with a sensational 72 on Sunday for a two-day total of 150. Finishing in second was Emma Schimpf also from of Daniel Island, posted rounds of 76 and 80 to score a total of 156. Heidi Lawson from Kodak, Tennessee finished in third place with a two-day total of 1162 (80-82). The ladies enjoyed their experience and the intense competition all weekend. Girls 13U
Lauren Slatton from McMinnville, Tennessee is the Girls 13 and under champion. Slatton claimed the title after an 95 Saturday and a 86 Sunday for a two-day total of 181. Slatton displayed tremendous fortitude while trekking through the difficult course layout.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
