On July 23 – 24, 2016 the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Lincoln, NE to host the Nebraska Kickoff at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club. The course was beautiful with a marvelous log clubhouse, with amazing views. Saturday was extremely warm with wind through most of the day. Sunday was a nice day with pretty cloudy skies to hold back the heat of the sun. Later on, there was rain and made it challenging for the players. Winners in all six age divisions will receive an automatic bid to the National Championship on December 3rd and 4th, 2016. The weekend was unbeatable all around, and the top ten finishers also received points towards end year honors, which include state teams, all HJGT teams, and the Hurricane Cup.
Boys 16-18 Division In the boys 16-18 division Brandt Radloff of Blair, NE left the course with the first place trophy. Radloff had two nice rounds of 75 and 77. His tournament total was 152 with four birdies in the tournament. Alex Zillig of LaVista, NE went home with the second place trophy. Zillig had a round one score of 81 and cut five strokes in round two for a 76. His tournament total was 157. Jake Huffaker of Salina, KS went home with the third place trophy. Huffaker had a round one score of 77 and a round two score of 83. His tournament total was 160. This was quite the competitive group of boys and they all played very well both days.
Boys 14-15 Division
In the boys 14-15 age division, Matthew Garside of Vadnais Heights, MN played strong both days and took home the first place trophy. Garside’s first round score was 76 and his second round score was 74. His tournament total was 150 with four birdies. Chase Aldrich of Wahoo, NE took home the second place trophy. Aldrich had a first round score of 85 and cut 4 strokes in round two for an 81. His tournament total was 166. Dillon Burr of Marion, IA took home the third place trophy. Burr’s first round score was an 86 and cut 5 strokes in round two for an 81. His tournament total was 167. These boys showed they have a lot of talent and we hope they keep competing throughout the years.
Boys 11-13 Division
In the boys 11-13 age division, Brock Snyder of Ames, IA was the solo competitor. Snyder had two quality rounds of 79 and 77. His tournament total was 156 with five birdies.
Boys U10 Division
In the boys U10 division, Tony Song of Windsor Hts., IA was the solo competitor. Song had a first round score of 100 and a second round score of 101. His tournament total was 2016.
Girls 14-18 Division
In the girls 14-18 division, Megan Welch of Lakeville, MN took home the first place trophy. Welch had a first round score of 77 and cut 7 strokes in round two for a score of 70. Her tournament total was 147 with four birdies. Megan Whittaker of Elkhorn, NE took home second place. Whittaker had a score of 79 each round. Her tournament total was 158. Kylee Vaughan of McLeansboro, IL took home third place. Vaughan had a round one score of 83 and a round two score of 91. Her tournament total was 174. This was quite the competitive group of girls with bright futures in golf.
Girls U13 Division
In the girls U13 division, Kate Strickland of Lincoln, NE took home the first place trophy. Strickland had a round one score of 77 and a round two score of 76. Her tournament total was 153. Neely Adler of Lincoln, NE took home second place. Adler had a first round score of 87 and a second round score of 84. Her tournament total was 171. Both of the girls proved they knew their home course well, which gave them the upper hand.

About the Hurricane Junior Golf
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of five age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Girls 14-18, and Girls 11-13.
