Minnesota Kickoff at Oak Marsh

On June 25th and 26th 2016, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to the Oak Dale, Minnesota to host the Minnesota Kickoff at Oak Marsh on the Oak Marsh Golf Course. The course played pretty flat, but contained tricky hazards to challenge the players. Saturday held a good chance of storms, but they held off with the exception of a few drops of rain. Both Saturday and Sunday were packed with gusting winds to make the weekend even more challenging. Winners in all six-age divisions will receive an automatic bid to the National Championship on December 3rd and 4th, 2016. The weekend was unbeatable all around, and the top ten finishers also received points towards end year honors, which include state teams, all HJGT teams, and the Hurricane Cup.
Boys 16-18 Division

In the boys 16-18 division, the championship trophy went to Jacob Vrolijk of Dry Ridge, KY. Vrolijk had a tournament total of 148, with scores of 75 and 73. He had four birdies and one eagle in the tournament. The second place trophy went to Lincoln Johnson of Chaska, MN. Johnson had a tournament total of 153, with scores of 75 and 78. He had five birdies in the tournament. Also from Chaska, MN, and receiving the third place trophy, was Dawson Wills. Wills had a tournament total of 157, with scores of 80 and 77. He had five birdies in the tournament. Overall the boys 16-18 age division was very competitive this weekend, and all of our top finishers played impressive golf.
Boys 14-15 Division

In the boys 14-15 age division, Matthew Garside of Vadnais Heights, MN took home first place. Garside had a total score of 151, with a first day score of 79 and the lowest tournament score of 72. He had five birdies in the tournament. There was a tie for second place between Noah Boraas of Alexandria, MN and Beemer Winter of Stillwater, MN. Boraas brought in a 78 for both days. Winter brought in scores of 76 and 80. They both had a total of 156. Third place went to Ihle Majeres of Elk River, MN. Majeres had a total score of 157, with scores of 77 and 80. Overall the boys 14-15 age division was very competitive this weekend, and all of our top finishers played impressive golf.
Boys 11-13 Division

In the boys 11-13 age division, Landon Buckanaga of Albertville, MN took home first place. Buckanaga had a total score of 168 with scores of 85 and 83. He had five birdies in the tournament. Second place ended in a tie between Brock Snyder of Ames, IA and Ian Meyer of Deephaven, MN. Snyder brought in scores 89 and 82. Meyer brought in scores of 84 and 87. Snyder and Meyer had totals of 171. Overall, this age division showed they weren´t afraid to compete, and everyone performed well.

Boys U10 Division

In the boys 10U division, Andrew Ramos of Blaine, MN was the solo competitor. He had a total score of 160. Ramos had a first round score of 76, and a second round score of 84.
Girls 14-18 Division

In the girls 14-18 division, Sophia Yoemans of Red Wing, MN took home the first place trophy. Yoemans brought in a round one score of 76 and a round two score of 79. She had a total score of 155. Second place went to Lexi Jonas of Hudson, WI. Jonas brought in a first round score of 86, and a second round score of 89. She had a total of 175. Third place went to Abbey Frauenholtz of New Ulm, MN. Frauenholtz brought in a first round score of 103. She knocked her second round score down to 94 for a tournament total of 197.
Girls U13 Division

In the girls 13U division, Camille Kuznik of Orono, MN was the solo competitor. Kuznik had a total score of 167. She brought in a first round score of 82, and a second round score of 85. Each of our top finishers played some extraordinary golf this weekend in some very intense winds. Each of the competitors showed they have a very bright future ahead of them in golf.

About the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of five age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Girls 14-18, and Girls 11-13.
