HJGT Makes a Stop in Jacksonville
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) stays at home to host the 1st Coast Junior Open. This two-day event will take place on July 23rd and 24th in the beautiful city of Jacksonville, Florida. The HJGT is pleased to announce that the 1st Coast Junior Open will be held at the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club on the club’s impressive championship caliber course. This mid-summer tournament will feature Florida Junior Tour exemptions to winners in both the Boys 15-18 and 11-14 Divisions and also to the winner of the Girls 15-18 Division. The FJT exemptions are not the only coveted items at stake. The 1st Coast Junior Open will also be ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard and the winner of each division will receive an automatic bid to the HJGT Tour Championship at the end of the year. The 1st Coast Junior Open will be a weekday tournament taking place on Monday (July 23, 2012) and Tuesday (July 24, 2012). The event will be in stroke play format and each day competitors will play eighteen (18) holes, making the event a thirty-six (36) hole tournament in total. The competitors participating will be divided into four different age divisions: Boys 15-18, Boys 11-14, Girls 15-18, and Girls 11-14. The Jacksonville Golf and Country Club is one of the premier golf courses that the Jacksonville area has to offer. This course was designed by Clyde Johnston and well known PGA Tour Professional Fuzzy Zoeller. This great design team has created a truly exceptional golf course. The course provides many challenges to create a very competitive tournament venue and with features such as twin signature greens on the final hole of each side, the course is sure to be quite visually appealing and in astounding condition. The course has many tee sets to accommodate players of any ability and the back set plays at 6892 yards. The course at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club has course rating of 72.3 and a slope rating of 136. This venue will be in near perfect condition and should make for two exciting days of competition.
