Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The following is a list of what will be at stake at HJGT events for the 2009 season.

National Junior Golf Scoreboard

All Hurricane Junior Golf Tour events will be ranked by the Junior Golf Scoreboard (NJGS). The Junior Golf Scoreboard is based on a formula which records 36 hole or longer tournaments. A players ranking will be made up of tournaments he or she has played in the last 365 days. Tournaments older then 365 days drop out of a player’s calculation.

NJGS Criteria:
Individual Scoring- This is simply the average difference of their score compared to the USGA rating of the courses they played in their tournaments. In other words how well does this player score when playing in tournaments? This criteria counts for 65% of a player's ranking calculation.

Strength of Field- The number displayed here is the result of our proprietary ranking formula that determines a score for all the tournaments played by this individual. Again, simply put, a lower number means they played against stronger players and the closer two players' strength numbers are, the more similar the competitiveness of their tournaments. This criteria counts for 25% of a player's ranking calculation.

Strength of Finish- This table displays the finishes for the player. Finishes count 10% in the ranking computation and are weighted in accordance with the number of players competed against or, in other words, the size of the field.

South Carolina Heritage Points

All South Carolina members will have an opportunity to earn Heritage Points through the South Carolina Junior Golf Association at South Carolina events. The HJGT will submit results to the SCJGA for events played in South Carolina and Georgia.  Here is how the system works:

Points are awarded based on overall finish regardless of age group. Competitors playing from the back set of boy’s tees & girls tees are considered to be competing for the overall title. All ties are split equally. For tournaments to be ranked the following must be in effect: At least 25 boys, 8 girls must compete in their bracket from their respective set of back tees. Smaller fields (boys events with less than 40 players) will only award 50% of the field. Rankings are on a twelve month rotation.Last year’s results are deleted when the new results are entered. Players are awarded points using the following point system: 1st-25, 2nd-20, 3rd-16, 4th-13, 5th-10, Top 10-5 and Top 20-3. Each tournament is weighted based on its importance and strength of field. All HJGT events recieve a weighting of 2. You can compute the points for a finish by multiplying the finish points by the tournament weight. Example: Johnny finishes third in a category four tournaments he will receive 64 points.
