Hunter’s Green to host Tampa Event

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) will visit Tampa for the Hunter’s Green Junior Shootout at Hunter’s Green Country Club on July 13-14, 2009. Juniors will compete over 36-holes of stroke play, in one of five age divisions: Boys 16-19, Boys 13-15, Boys 10-12, Girls 15-19, or Girls 10-14.

Hunter’s Green Country Club is a premiere golfing site in Tampa. Designed by Tom Fazio, heavily wooded holes more than make up for the lack of water on this 6,979 yard par-72 layout. Fazio wouldn’t be Fazio without his signature risk-reward holes scattered throughout this venue.

Timbercreek to host Second Annual Event

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour returns to Timber Creek Golf Course for its Gulf Coast Junior Classic on July 18-19. Juniors will be competing over 36-holes in one of five age divisions: Boys 16-19, Boys 13-15, Boys 10-12, Girls 15-19, & Girls 10-14.

Dreamt by Earl Stone, Timber Creek is just that, a dream made reality. Tipping out just over 7,000-yards, the Magnolia-Dogwood rotation, a par-72, offers length, beauty, finesse, and power. The closing three holes, are a teasing trio: Seven, a seemingly blind tee-shot; Eight, the players last chance to make birdie, and Nine, where the dream ends or the nightmare begins.

In 2008 the boys 16-18 champion Steven Lins of Bay Minette, Alabama would outlast the field with a two day tournament total of 157. In the boys 13-15 division Cody Wyatt of Mobile, Alabama would outscore the competition by 10 giving him the title and a two-day total of 149.

St. Johns Golf and Country Club will welcome back the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour for its St. Johns Junior Open on July 22-23, 2009. 2008’s overall champion was Robbie Van Ripper of Tallahassee, Florida who posted two rounds of 73 for a tournament total of 146. The boys 13-15 division needed a playoff to determine the champion but Chase Berlin took the division title with a tournament total of 148. In the girls 15-18 division Diana Davis of Pembroke Pines would fire a tournament total of 147, giving her a 15-shot victory. Minami Levonowich took home the girls 10-14 division with a one-shot victory over Callie Kitchens at 164.
